We defiantly need another striker I am not a huge fan of Dalby, he is OK but only got 10 last year of which 2 were pens.
Yeah I’d be worried going into the season with Dalby as our main striker. He’s not strong enough for a team going for top 7. Purely my opinion 🤷🏼‍♂️.. so I’m hopeful we’re looking at 1 or 2 to bring in.

I don't know much about mussa but if clubs like notts county are interested then he would be decent signing for us. Jeez we really are getting are act together interms of building a decent side for next season. If we sign mussa and striker who can get 15+ goals. We should easily get play offs..... very exciting young hungry team at sufc now 👍

Is that the same Dalby who was interesting clubs higher up the pyramid?

Was he? Like I say just my opinion. Not to say he’s not got potential - he has - but I think there’s scope for bringing in someone, even on loan, to lead the line and really worry defenders with pace or power. That’ll send a proper message out to other teams. I also think it would benefit Sam and help him develop, take the pressure off.

I think the best way for Sam Dalby - who I think is a terrific young striker - to develop and become sharper still around goal is to continue to have the benefit of first team games rather than being relegated to the fringes of the squad.

Competition in his spot is healthy, he needs it.

People judge way too early on players nowadays.

You’ll struggle to find a striker of his age, close to his ability at this level in my opinion. With a better side this season, we should create more opportunities for him to score.

Personally I thought he had an excellent season, he defo needs to become stronger with his hold up play and defo needs to get better in the air but he has great feet and scored some decent goals. He also played in a struggling side at the start. With the three amigos and Stan looking after him I’m sure he will turn into a 15 plus goal scorer for sure but let’s give him time to develop

The more I think about this new rumour about a striker in talks, the more I think it will be Michael Cheek, I really hope it is, definitely a statement signing.

Stats in the league (Taken from Transfermarkt so may be slightly off):
15/16 - 15 goals in 40
16/17 - 19 goals in 44
17/18 - 13 goals in 34
18/19 - 16 goals in 39
20/21 - 23 goals in 43
21/22 - 17 goals in 42

That is some serious consistency in the National League, he is 30 now, but definitely has a few more years in the tank.

I hope you’re right. The very reason I said I hope we get a body or two in up top is because from day one, expectations will be high and teams will want to bully us.

Dalby has work to do on his physicality for sure and so all I said was I wouldn’t want to start with him as our only striker leading the line. This doesn’t mean I think he’s ****, I think he has promise and some great attributes, but I don’t think he intimidates defenders .. so I’d keep the pressure off him personally. If Cardwell and Murphy are fit from game 1 that’s different.
