No reason why you should get ridiculed, you've got an opinion and you may, or may not, be right. The club is definitely struggling on the cash flow front, but that doesn't mean we're under an embargo. But it could affect when players are signed. As I understand it the latest signings don't go on the pay roll until July so I would imagine that would be the case for those not yet through the door. On the holiday front, I agree, a load of old bollocks, and most of us just read that and then move on.
There you go big nose, no ridicule from me there.:Winking:
Let's not forget we will still be paying the 16 players released until the end of this month so June will be our most difficult for cash flow, from July our wage bill becomes more representative of a squad with 16 less players.

I don't think we are under any formal financial constraints simply being financially prudent for once which is a strange feeling for shrimpers

But so are the other clubs around paying players that we want to sign? I’m not sure that has any relevance

As we released as many as 16 players at the end of last season, quite a substantial amount, surely Kevin and the others alongside him in the Football Department are confident of securing the numbers they wish to bring in? If they weren't confident of getting in the numbers they wish then surely nowhere near the 16 figure would've been released? More so as Kevin is on record as saying many in that 16 that were let go of did well for the Club. Lets give things a bit more time.
Did well is past tense and would cover players who once upon a time were good but no longer are.

We might be able to spot those as they were no longer required and so farmed out on loan to Wimborne even when we needed centre halves.

Atkinson has been thankfully upgraded with Miley and then which players who actually featured regularly haven’t been replaced?

Most of the 16 were kids who’d long since been deemed as surplus to requirements: Egbri, Howard, Rush, Chandler, Mitchell-Nelson, Kinali were all sent away on loan.

Coulson wasn’t a kid but was shipped out on loan as out of favour. Ditto ANG. Akinola never featured. Ogogo and Phillips hadn’t featured for 6 months.

That leaves Gard, Davies and Dunne. Gard played maybe twice this year (should have been more, mind you) and we’ve offered Oli Coker a pro deal so he effectively replaces him and would likely get any minutes Gard might have.

So only two players who might have featured (albeit as depth) have been released. We definitely need a RWB and a CM and more depth in general but I would read nothing into those released.

Paying Coulson, Ogogo, Dunne & Atkinson won't be cheap and were surplus to requirements even before our signings were made last season inflating our wage budget up until the end of this month.

We will still be paying our former youth players until the end of the month and the 12 of them will add up to a couple of first team players wages at least and our rivals simply don't have those costs as they aren't restructuring their youth teams

If one of our targets signs for someone else, that isn't because the club was ****ing around and didn't get it done on time.

It's normally because the player and their agent are ****ing around or talking to other clubs.

We could offer all our first choice targets great deals, but if another club comes in with a better offer, or something closer to home, then we might miss out.

Nothing to do with how the club is run, it's just how football works.

The players nobody wants/really want to sign for us specifically, are easier to sign.

The players everyone wants will need time to go over all their options. Be patient people

On the subject of the possible embargo and cash flow problems, obviously fans players and staff
Have experienced all the financial consequences of RM, I feel its okay for a degree of scepticism as despite Tom working tirelessly to get finances sorted , RM is still around..
On the other hand it's also okay to be more optimistic and to believe that RM is allowing and trusting the management team to achieve the turnaround on the field and also balance the books , I'm an optimist !

I know but how is that stopping new signings if the new signings don’t need to be paid by us ?

Wedding receptions cost a fair whack. Probably £5k in profit. It can help pay wages for a few players in the summer months if they can get one or two a week.
I've seen it all, people selling business for the club on a summer targets/rumours transfers thread 😂

Are signing on fees due immediately? If so that could explain a gap between deals seemingly being agreed in principle, signing photos being taken and the signing being announced. Maybe Tom is busy rustling down the back of Ron’s sofa for enough loose change to pay?

Is that weddings or players?!

Does anyone know whether the playing budget for the 2022/23 season is still in the region of £1.4m or has it now decreased to £900k to allow for the loss of the EFL allocation . When Ron says the budget remains the same I think he means his own personal contribution from his companies remains unchanged . If it the lower figure it explains the situation on the lack of new signings - they cannot be afforded - and we can rule out an embargo being the cause.

A few of you need to chill seriously. Signings are happening, and fingers crossed we’ll have an announcement by next week if all goes to plan. We’re NOT under an embargo, we’re not slacking, progress is being made we just need to be patient.

It doesn’t help when certain accounts get peoples hopes up when they clearly don’t know everything. Sit tight, be patient and come the start of the season we will 100% be ready for a successful season.
That’s helpful Moley. I do hope we get most sorted for pre season though. We’ve not had a decent start in a while and really don’t want to be playing catch up after 10 games.
