Transfer News and Gossip Summer/Autumn Transfer Targets/Rumours Thread 2022

Honestly some of the comments on this thread are just hilarious!

I love the zone, one minute we herald a new dawn as we sign 2 before anyone else has coughed, then we are under embargoes, other clubs are signing “dross” and it bothers folk, and the projected signings have yet to put pen to paper because they are away on holiday!

FFS have a beer and enjoy the sunshine 🌞

My theory is Stan is trolling the Zone and we will unveil all new signings in a one off reveal one day before the season starts!
I reckon all clubs should do this as a televised special to kick off the the season, no announcements just a great big show on the Friday before the first game of a season, it'd be a great show

A little early perhaps?...of course not.

Let's kick off the annual mega thread on transfer targets.

Who would you like to see us go for?...Have you heard any whispers?

To save everyone scrolling through loads of pages. This list is based on whats being mentioned on here and across the socials by the Shrimpers fanbase. Think the fire signs should go now lol beeen hotting up for 2 weeks

I’m not an expert but Aldershot signing (well announcing) 8 players in one day is fine by me. As others have said, apart from one I wouldn’t hope any of them would sign for us. Obviously, time will tell and this comment could bite me in the arse but I still see no reason to panic.

Our top targets (according to this thread) still haven’t signed for another club and I trust the management team and the back room staff to pick out the right players..

The fact that we got Mooney and Cav over the line so quickly probably hasn’t helped. People now expect them to come flowing in. Chill out, have faith in Kev and the team I’m sure things will come shortly.
I was thinking exactly this. We made two signings in one day with Mooney and Miley - perhaps if we’d have signed them 3 weeks apart there would be less moaning and groaning…

1 thing I will say is we have only 6 weeks till we are back in action in the National league. This summer is going to be shorter than usual summers. From that aspect is best to get the majority of our business done and dusted before the first game. If we can get the 2 who we seemed to be linked with ove the line and announced within first few days of next week then that should calm those who might be wondering why we aren't signing anyone. As I said few days back, we can't be messing around If we are serious about challenging for play offs or automatic this season coming.

As we released as many as 16 players at the end of last season, quite a substantial amount, surely Kevin and the others alongside him in the Football Department are confident of securing the numbers they wish to bring in? If they weren't confident of getting in the numbers they wish then surely nowhere near the 16 figure would've been released? More so as Kevin is on record as saying many in that 16 that were let go of did well for the Club. Lets give things a bit more time.

Two things are for certain, today is Saturday and tomorrow is Sunday. That means there will be no news coming out of Roots Hall on anything to do with transfers or anything else. That being so enjoy the warm weather, don't get fretful on lack of news, and try not to imagine the worst things that could happen to the club at this stage of the season. If you can manage that then @BoyWonder2 won't have to keep dipping in and out on here denying stuff that hasn't even happened.

As Del boy would say, 'You know it makes sense'.

This is what I think ( and as usual I’ll get ridiculed, but just relax, this is only my thoughts and doesn’t effect the real world) we ARE under some sort of financial restraint … we weren’t, and now we are ( as we are most times when I post this ) we have all our ducks lined up and ready to sign, but we are waiting for the financial restraints to finish then we will make a flurry of signings … abit like last season when we were in exactly the same boat and finally the truth filtered out after I said we were under financial restraints. If I do recall about 3-4 weeks ago we were close to making 1-2 more signings that week, then everyone miraculously went on holiday. Regardless of if we are under some sort of restraint the last few weeks, and whether this is the case next week and beyond . To keep using the holiday one each season as an excuse really does insult my intelligence, the only thing that does really surprise me is how so many of you want to believe the same old tired excuses.

That's all very well, but what about those of us who don't like enjoying things?
I much prefer misery to enjoyment, why else would I be a Southend fan?

I find there is nothing more exhilarating than starting off each day knowing that there are at least three things to worry about, and SUFC are usually good for at least two of those.

Anyway, enjoy, enjoying your weekend.

No reason why you should get ridiculed, you've got an opinion and you may, or may not, be right. The club is definitely struggling on the cash flow front, but that doesn't mean we're under an embargo. But it could affect when players are signed. As I understand it the latest signings don't go on the pay roll until July so I would imagine that would be the case for those not yet through the door. On the holiday front, I agree, a load of old bollocks, and most of us just read that and then move on.
There you go big nose, no ridicule from me there.:Winking:

My biggest concern is that planning permission was the golden egg which opened up investment and the shining light to keep this old girl Alive…. Well, we finally have that , and still….. still we are living hand to mouth each ****ing day … if you think a few more weeding receptions will iron that cash flow out , then I’m sure you’ll enjoy the honeymoons that all the players will be having . When we are trying to sign them.. we really really are ****ed
