But if you did that to a kid today they would either stab you or accuse you of being a paedo. they are all feral scratters who want a dose of the cat or a spell in the army, most of them are immigrants or gypos. VOTE UKIP!!!!

if you think that was bad you should read my Daily Mail column!

was in the nb on saturday. initial thought was i thought the nursery was in the lower south stand. seemed a lot of young uns in the nb. but then again coppers are starting to look younger now - must be an age thing:stunned:

Reading all these post about kids Vs adults I remember when I started to watch Southend on my own/with mates the younger supports all sat South Lower behind the goal then as we got older we started to move round to the west stand.

So it does have grounds and well worth a look into.

The "kids" could sit in the west and it may make for a better atmos as it be a set up Palace

The problem with a flyer is the type of people that wont read it are the same people its targeting IMHO.

Won't or can't?

Who knows? The only way to get people to do something is to make them want to do it. You do that by influence. I don't think anyone set out with the intention of being spiteful. I think, for the most part, something that started out as a bit of fun, got carried on a bit too far and a reminder of what people were trying to achieve would be useful. It's amazing what can happen if you give someone a good name to live up to.

Some would it ignore it. Some would read it. But if it gave those leading the crowd something to rally to, it couldn't do any harm.

I am sure Scott will get in some big consultants for advice.

TBV, acting in the best interests of the club, should be a vocal force to be reckoned with.

My first game at the hall, the people around me were shouting abuse at the players at times instead of supporting them. Can see why some stay away a lot of negativity. Hopefully something can be done to keep the fans positive Granted not a lot to be about on Saturday. Best of luck to anyone trying to do so.

And where were you sitting?

East Stand, where the yellow seats are. Will be in west next season I think.

Good choice. We have some initiation rituals that we'll have to hold you to. Nothing complicated, so no need to worry. Firstly, there are a few moany old fossils at the back who you have to punch as you walk in. You'll know who they are as they'll boo certain players on to the pitch for the warm up. A good jab in the ribs will do. We've all done it, it's just tradition. After that you're free to do what you wish, but do return for another dig if they continue. As I said, no one will bat an eyelid. Welcome to the west.

Smthy's match day programme article from way back when when TBV first started. Something similar again for the first match next season ?

Most of the people we're talking about here won't read a leaflet given to them, let alone a whole programme...
If the club will support something on the website, with a link on FB and Twitter, that might be read by the kind of people needing to be targetted.

How about several stewards standing at the entrance telling people anyone mis-behaving will be ejected ?

Surely the club is not planning with you? After Wembley, Aldershot and Saturday it must be three strikes and out ?

Strikes for what you make ZERO sense

Wembley - that's what happens when you have 25k people with no lasting interest in the club NOT TBV FAULT

Aldershot - my views I am entitled to them again NOT TBV FAULT

Saturday - mixed views on this personally I did not agree with it however we can't make people do things or not say things we are not stewards security or old bill and have no wish to parade round like any of the previous - all we can do is try and guide it to keeping the chanting to supporting the team

Spot on.

Again, you can't MAKE people sing the right songs. You can only make them WANT to do it.

For me, there are only two relevant questions here:

  • How do you influence a collective group of people to WANT to support the club and team in the right way?
  • How do you do that without sanitising the whole thing too much so that we don't lose the atmosphere, humour and culture that comes with football?

You don't want a library but nor do you want a choir singing a bunch of pre-approved messages.
