I don't buy that we are miles behind other clubs, we had a chance to make the playoffs on the last game of the season despite the chaos off the pitch. So far we have lost 2 players that played less than 15 games in that season.

There is plenty of potential in this squad and we do not need a major overhaul, just a sprinkling of quality which will be available until the efl window closes and well after.

Also, it's only June

Bottom line, with RM still here bills aren't getting paid, office staff aren't getting paid and Kev isn't able to prepare anything like his rival managers are.

Number one priority therefore is getting Ron gone. If a few more weeks are needed to get this deal over the line, so be it. Without it, none of the above gets fixed.

Short term pain, long term gain. Let's get him gone, get the staff paid, bills paid and embargo removed and see what magic Kev can conjure...

Not necessarily true. Wrexham signed out of contract Paul Mullin as late as July 23rd in 2021.
It might be true for some, but the longer you leave it the less talent will be available, and what is left (and good enough) would probably be more expensive.

Some of us old long suffering supporters just want a club to watch, in my opinion next season is about stability with our new owners getting into the enviroment and build a team for the following season to win the league, as we saw last season with Barnet and Woking both invested a lot into there teams and both fell at the first hurdle to two street wise teams, no need to rush we wont go down build next season build a foundation to smash it up the following year the support wont leave as they will be happy to have a club to support.

Been saying the same thing. We are only 4 or 5 players short of being in contention. Once the sale is done and Kev can get his targets in we will be fine.

To be honest, as much as I'd like promotion next season, I'm not going to be devastated with next season being mid-table mediocrity due to a late start to preparations if it means we have a stable, Ron Martin-less club and a clean slate. Spoke about this with @Smiffy today - if it means they find every dead body buried underneath Roots Hall, then the DD can take a bit longer.

The priority is getting rid of the rat.

I agree completely but with both Wrexham and Notts gone, we may never get a better chance to get back into the league.

They won’t be back anytime soon. You’re right though, next season looks on paper a fair bit weaker than the last couple of campaigns.

Chesterfield and Oldham along with us (if we get our **** together) are the big boys.

My dark horses for next season are Gateshead.

They’ve recruited really well so far, and had fantastic form second half of the season.

The likes of Oldham, Chesterfield, Bromley, Woking & Boreham Wood will be there or thereabouts too.

It’s going to be more of a “normal” season, and no one will run away with it like Wrexham & Notts County did, but it won’t be a walk in the park, even if the new owners want to throw money at it.

As hard as it seems for some to accept or get their heads around the most important thing for next season is the rebirth of our Football club and if that arguably results in what is precieved as playing catch up or missing the boat pre season then it is what it is ! I personally don't believe we will be as impeded as some do, as the recruitment guys will be free to get on with the job and potentially tap into players of a level of ability that has not been an option for us in recent times. Our performance last season proves we have a neculas of a good squad which I believe will be improved on, of course I hope for instance success and to be challenging for promotion but the mindset has to be about the long term sustainability of the football club.

Don't rule out Eastleigh from being in the mix this coming season. Like us, not far off the play offs and have already invested in their squad and moved some.players on early.
