Essentially, yes. The National League will play it by the FA Standardised Rules. Relevant ones are:

4.12 In the event of any issue concerning the membership of any Club with the Competition the Board may require a Bond to be paid by or on behalf of the Club on such terms and for such period as it may in its entire discretion think fit.

11. FOOTBALL CREDITORS
Where a Club defaults in making any payments to any Football Creditor, the Club shall be subject to such penalty as the Board may decide, including, but not limited to, an Embargo; a points deduction; a Bond; a suspension; or any combination thereof.
Thanks for clarifying this. Such a mess.

Would pretty much write off this season then. Don't think the new owners want to wait that long
I take your point here but I still think providing the club survives and is still in the National League, with no transfer window I don't think it would be a complete write off and with the potential feel good factor around the club after the previous years we could end up having a great season, we just need this done properly as soon as possible.

To be honest, as much as I'd like promotion next season, I'm not going to be devastated with next season being mid-table mediocrity due to a late start to preparations if it means we have a stable, Ron Martin-less club and a clean slate. Spoke about this with @Smiffy today - if it means they find every dead body buried underneath Roots Hall, then the DD can take a bit longer.

The priority is getting rid of the rat.

SPOT ON 100%

It’s not close. It’s maybe than closer than last week, but we could still be looking at weeks and not days. Thinking before the end of June for sure but very much doubt it will be for at least another 10 days at the earliest

Not arguing with you there and you are right only certain people know 100% what’s going on. Just sharing what I heard today.

Bang on tbf . Although Should have waited for a season ticket thought we’d push on.

Exactly! Of course we'd like to go up and it to all be done and dusted now but if they're taking their time then they're doing it properly and that's what we need. We've been under an embargo since September so you can do a lot in this league with the right team behind you and we have a great backroom, providing they don't decide to leave as well.

I do think people are setting themselves up for disappointment thinking that even if the new Owners are in by the end of this week (which seems to go against those ITK's expectations) then we will be competing towards the top end of this league next season.

We are MILES behind other clubs. Next season will surely be about stability as new people come in and start to work on rebuilding all that has been gutted over the last god knows how long. So long as they get in, as MB says above, anyhting else is a bonus.

With this management team and the nucleus of the squad we have, I would suggest we shouldn't be in too much danger of relegation, but it will take a monumental turnaround and effort to be competing for promotion

Now i'm by no means writing it off as a possibility, but those looking at this with the short term view that the takeover needs to happen now for next season's sake I think need to adjust expectations. This is about something far longer term than that, thank god.

No-one has a real idea how long. Some of the info probably comes with an element of expectation setting. Better say July then get it done next week, than the other way around for obvious reasons. There may be NL deadlines or not that make a difference- quite possibly getting the owners test done quickly is in part to provide the NL comfort that all will be OK regarding future ownership/funding..

Our poor staff are probably far less relaxed about how long it takes as they have bills to pay, and there is still near zero money coming into the club I suspect. And then add one or two existing players who I fear may be tempted to go elsewhere if it drags on. Yes they can be replaced, yes there is no NL window, but it all normally comes with a negative financial impact, a negative impact on the strength of the squad, or both.

Finally, Kimura might also be somewhat less relaxed about writing off a season as they may see that as having a significant cost too (maybe a £1m + looking at EFL funding and TV money) and, in a way, set their plans back a year..

So lets hope the thing gets done in the more optimistic timeframe of, say, the next 14 days at worst. If all parties are engaged and focussed on achieving that, and no material nasties are found or anything else that stops them in their tracks, then that is achievable.

Providing we keep who Kev wants to keep, and he has time to add some quality improving us further, why should we be miles behind? Wrexham and Notts have gone? Nobody coming down to be scared of, and more often than not the first season is a struggle. Chesterfield will be strong, but who else should accept/expect to be miles ahead of us?

We're just not going to know until the season starts mate. All we can do is start as strongly as possible and see where that gets us.

You get the feeling Kimura will have to bite the bullet and push it through. Got to be next week.
If it makes sense i guess they wil but if it doesnt who could blame them if they didnt. I was feeling a little pessimistic early last week but am quite optimistic the sale will go through now, hopefully in time for a few of our out of contact players to stay and in time for the league to be happy
