His Wiki page was edited today to include this:-

Flood had a trial with Mansfield town in December 2011 and although scoring in his trial game, did not sign for the East Midlands club. Subsequently, Flood is rumoured to be joining Southend United in the January (2012) transfer window.

Interesting, when i was watching the football league show last week, there as a tall guy standing next to harris. Someone else mentioned it on here but no one seemed to know who he was. Maybe thats this guy. Will def give him support and in luggy we trust, but really would have preferred someone with english league experience.

Nah, how much English league experience did the likes of Freddy Eastwood, Stan Collymore, Mark Bentley, Ryan Hall, Kane Ferdinand, Steve Tilson, Bilel Mohsni etc have.

You want a couple of old pros for a bit of experience but star players tend to be those on the way up rather than those on the way down or sideways. Neil Harris was a better player on his way up from non-league than he is now on his way down with all that league experience behind him.

This kid will be hungry, energised and desperate to make a name for himself. He may or may not be any good, but let's see. This to me is a low risk high reward signing. I'd rather go for those who have earned a move upwards than those who have failed and are having to drop down to find their level. That's not to say you can't get good players that way, but I prefer the odds for someone who has met or exceeded expectations.

Anthony Flood is 27, so can hardly be called a "kid".

"Hardworking, but not the most clinical of strikers. "

"He's a decent player - he buried Tim Howard from 25 yards in Dalymount last September (Bohs 1 Everton 1).
Fycking shame to see him gone from Ireland. "

Hardworking, tall striker not prolific. Sounds like an alex revell replacement. Wonder if he can cook and write a blog?

Give the guy a chance. He hasn't even been officially announced yet :nope:

Where in my post was I criticising? From the reports he is hardworking, he is 6ft 3 and isn't a 30 a season striker. Last comment was mere jest. Possibly a little over sensitive - revell did a decent job for us and better one at orient, so wouldn't be a bad player to be compared to.
