Surely if it's another striker then there's some news about to break with regards to an exit? Or we're going to play 4-3-3 in some games.

At the moment we have Benyon, Dickinson, Harris and Sturrock as senior forwards at the club. We then have youngsters such as Crawford, Asante, etc who could come in and do a job and the lad from Bolton brought in yesterday who would seemingly be above our youngsters in the pecking order.

Thats 7 strikers, 5 of which I don't think most of us would mind if they started a game. I can't see the thinking behind this one unless its seen as a signing for the future i.e - when Harris is no longer considered a decent option.

Thoughts?

I don't think Harris is going anywhere.

Crawford and Asante however, I'm sure they'll be off, as will the other youngsters like Woodyard and James-Lewis, if only on loan somewhere.

I'm guessing Grant and Ferdinand will be off.

Grant AND Kane wont both be off that would only leave us two centre mids. Maybe one of them.

We would never play 4-3-3 with 3 out and out strikers, one would always be Hall. I think perhaps more likely that Dicko may be rested for a couple of games and he may give the boy Sampson a run with Benyon. Harris has looked best as an impact sub, doesnt seem to have the legs for 90 mins. Blair, Crawford, Asante are guff and will be used in an emergency or loaned out.

Why we would still need an extra striker I dont know unless there has been a fall out with someone. Not forgetting Mohsni done a pretty good job up front too.

Antony Flood was on trial at Mansfield...apart from that not really sure what level this guy is at..oh and he is 28...any other info??? is this the right guy?

Anto Flood played in the Airtricity League in Ireland with Bohemians last year. They finished 5th ( from a league of 10 ) He was with a Swedish side the year before. I can't remember the name Orebro or something like that. Only made a handful of appearances for them and didn't score. His most prolific days were from 2007-2009 with Shelbourne where he scored 37 in 76 appearances. About 1 in every two. Scored 8 goals last season for Bohemians.

A tall lanky striker, who's play well with his back to goal (in my opinion) with more nippy strikers feeding off him. He wins a lot of aerial balls. A real target man. Suppose he was the Crouch of the Airtricity League - except he isn't that tall!

In his trial game with Mansfield earlier in the year, he scored. Don't know anything else of how he get on there, but if they didn't offer him a contract then...

He would be on a free contract though and on a relatively small wage though.

Is this him?

Yeah certainly underwhelmed if this is the guy. We have enough strikers who do a job for the side without really troubling the scorers. How's Rohan Ricketts getting on Conor?

I was actually thinking the opposite.

My guess would be that at least one (probably both) will stay, and in view of our continued interest in strikers it may well be that Harris will be the one to make way.

With regard to the youngsters you mention I hope we retain them both along with Teddy Nesbit, but loan them out for some fresh match practice.

Well that's it, I'd be amazed if he is the best option out there. Would show Southend's scouts up for being fairly average. In his eight clubs he has only really performed at one, and that was Shelbourne in his two year stint there (2007-2009).

Ricketts joined Rovers on a short-term contract on transfer deadline day in August. Was only his intention to put himself back in the shop window for where he ultimately wanted to be - the UK ( Championship level and above he says. '' Mr. Loves himself! '' )

He played alright for us, only played twice in the Europa League group stages, which was a bit of a disappointment for him because that's where he seen his best oppertunity of attracting clubs and showcasing his talent. He did score the goal though that ultimately clinched back to back titles for us. Scored 2 goals in 10 appearances for us.

He is now back training with his old club in the UK. He won't say which old club it is though. Hardly Spurs. Possibly Wolves or Barnsley maybe. I don't know. Loves the media though. Few fans got a bit fed up of him I think.
