Only Eastwood and Goater hit double figures that year (Gray got nine, Gower six and AB only scored three). Phillips, Hall and even Kane are all on to outscore anyone but the two main strikers got that season and may even catch Goat's 11 goals.

Goater went through spells around the middle of that season of getting a fair bit of stick during his time at Southend for being slow, lazy and past-it. Then he announced that he was going to retire, we ran away with the league and all that got forgotten.

If im right Harris has scored 6 or 7 this season, if he continues he will finish with around 12/14 goals. Would that not be a decent return. I dont think the goat got many more than 10/11 when he was here and Tilson dropped him from the side a few times. I dont remember people having a go about him. Goater had Eastwood next to him and so it took a lot of pressure off him, at the mo the likes of dickinson and benyon need to likewise.

Sorry, but Harris has scored only 5 or 6 goals, and they have all (bar one) been last goals in games (good tip for last goalscorer) in which we have already been at least 2 goals up. Hardly a game changer!

They all count!

Who's to say that the title might come down to goal difference and those last goals in games could be all important. I agree that a lot of people are disappointed in Harris's return as we thought he might be the 20 goals a season man we were after but we're doing fine regardless!

Expectation is a little different this season. That season the initial target was to stay up rather than get promoted playing attractive football and all players playing well exceeding expection on a fairly regular basis. Although Goater didnt score tons he was heavily involved in a lot of goals and you cant really moan at someone who put 2 past Col U on their debut :-)

For the record i dont feel as though Harris has done that badly but our style of play really does not suit him at all.

I was thinking that myself ...

Rotherham (a) 4th in 4-0 win
Shrewsbury (h) 3rd in 3-0 win
Dagenham JPT (a) 3rd in 3-1 win
Barnet (a) 3rd in 3-0 win
Bristol Rovers (h) opener in 1-1 draw

Whilst i prefer to be 2 or 3 up in any game (obviously :thump:) i really think Neil could do with scoring us a last minute winner, it'll go a long way to winning over a few of the doubters i'm sure

If you are 1-0 up the opposition know they have a chance, score the second and it kills the game.

They also count to our goal difference which is worth an extra point at the moment.

Any goal is important, lets not start taking credit away from players who actually score...

How awesome would it be if he did become our 20 goal a season man whilst only scoring when we were 3-0 up.

Southend I'm not expecting Flood to go into first team straight away... He's sort of in his pre-season as Irish lge is played in summer

PS impressed with Flood in trial game with #colu he's signed him and Sampson to give them more physical options up front

Pato is out on loan so 9. I wonder how much Sampson getting a loan extension will depend on how well pato does at forest green. Do we need pato on loan to be able to afford Sampson?

Paterson won't be doing much else at Forest Green as he is suspended for the rest of his loan.
