Some interesting rumours doing the rounds up here in Lincoln regarding tilly's time at the club. Let's just say he is alledged to have spent more and more of his time down in Essex prior to his departure as imps' boss.

He shouldn't really have taken the job. Both he and Brushy didn't want to move up there permanently and so didn't do so. His two sons live in Wickford with his ex-wife, and he got married shortly after taking the Lincoln job....his new wife has a job down here and her daughter, who lives with them, is settled in school down here. Everything in his life is here, his parents (his dad is old and frail) live down here. He was never going to uproot everyone and was never going to move there permanently. He was up against it from the start in that respect, being back and forth all the time, and he should have held on for a bit longer and taken a job closer to home when it became available. He needes the money though, so you know.....

Exactly. Which just adds to the total injustice of it all.

Treated awfully before "being put on garden leave" and then during it. Forced to take the first job that came his way so he could earn a living, even if the state of the club and location were not right for him. The enforced decision ruined his CV because although each relegation and sacking can be explained away, many people will not look beyond the bare stats.

Is there no justice in the world? This is just so unfair on such a decent, honest, hardworking human being. And it was the decisions of the people running our club that led to this. I hope people won't forget that. He should never have been treated as he was while he was here and then I reckon we'd be in a higher division with a higher fan base and one of football's true gentlemen would still be in a job he absolutely loved with us and playing good football.

I suspect he'll have no problem getting a job in football because he has good contacts and many people in the game know his story - but persuading a chairman to risk their reputation with their fans on appointing him as a number one again in the foreseeable future will be unlikely. Being a number one outside of the league probably won't work either as he likes his teams to play football.

So sad.

:'(

Hear, hear. IMO Tilly should have no problem in getting another job in management. If you look at the league, there's loads of managers who get chance after chance. Managers such as Gary Johnson, Russell Slade, Danny Wilson, Plankinson, John Ward etc all of whom have presided over clubs that have been relegated, or jumped ship or copped for the Spanish Archer before the inevitable relegation.

I suspect that Tilly won't get another job in the Football League right away and may have to go to non league to start again.

Excellent post, sums up my thoughts exactly.

i expect the poisen dwarf is enjoying it all - anyway I hope he takes a good break .... the abuse at Lincoln was pretty unpleasant -

I hope he got what hes owned by this club -

What next for Tilly and Brush? Can't see any League 2 or even Conference team touching him. His CV of 3 relegations and leaving a side near the bottom of the conference doesn't look good. We all know he is a good manager but he may have to restart somewhere like Conference South or Ryman Premier to get his managerial career back on track.

Get over yourself....RM isn't interested in what Tilly does now. RM did what he did to secure the future of SUFC and looking at where we are now, he got it spot on.

Apparently Interpol doesn't like this but instead of coming on and posting, he is skulking in the background like the class sneak. Face facts, if Tilly had still been here, we would be where Lincoln are now, not 2nd in L2

Oh really, I hope you know Ron pretty well with that statement as from speaking to him myself id suggest the previous comment was more correct.

It seems that now TB is calling the shots at the top that things are going right, not Ron.

He really said that he hopes Tilly fails wherever he goes? Even if he does think that, i'm sure he wouldn't go round telling all and sundry that

Legends yes and they gave us some great memories in the first few seasons, but IMHO this stint at Lincoln maybe now shows those fans with Rose tinted glasses that T&B are lacking in terms of management. Don't get me wrong, I like T&B all they gave my some amazing memories as a fan, I just feel they got a little lucky them first two and a half years.

Has that view been formed with a detailed knowledge and insight behind the scenes at Lincoln ? To suggest they were lucky is one of the most ridiculous statements i've seen in a long time. The success was achieved through hard work, good man management and a little luck, they weren't perfect but their track record suggests you are talking tosh.

I don't disagree with what you say here but I think many of us would make exactly the same comments on some of the criticisms made on here of Paul Sturrock

from the reader comments ...

 .. well said sir

Sorry, but that article is obviously made up. There's no way Tilson would have said this:

“It worked out well for us and for Charlie because it gave him some first-team experience in a tough league. He’s pushed on in his career and done ever so well.
