As the stadium owner is Ron why would he charge a rent that his own club cant pay. Putting himself out of business and leaving himself with a stadium he cant use doesnt seem like the best of plans.

Why would the stadium owners at Coventry want to put city out of business.

Yeah, there were still knocking it down when we went there when Webby came back.

Ah ok, but I assume with them they knocked it down so they could start tobuild another one?

3 sides is bad, but if we knew it was for one season it would be bearable, but it its 4 years or longer it will be awful. We were told we would be in the stadium within 18 months, that was about 6 years ago, so how long will 4 years turn in to.

I hope that Ron does actually get building the 4th stand quickly but have little faith he will.

Yeah they re-built and have 4 sides now, was very strange only being in half a ground but the Blackpool fans still made an atmosphere.

Why would RM go through all this grief to build the new ground just to kill us?

Ron IMO only wants the RH site,Sainsbury will be paying for the initial stadium costs so it's cost Ron virtually nothing,Once the club move in the rent can be any amount Ron chooses,If the club go belly up Ron owns a very large lump of land which is then ideal for housing,Either way he collects vast rent or knocks down the 3 sided joke .

How on earth can a football stadium that has taken years to get permission for in the middle of a retail development be ideal for housing?

And one more thing... if Ron wanted to club to die so he could sell it for housing he could have allowed that to happen at any time in the past with Roots Hall just by trying to recover the rent that has been allowed to remain outstanding! In fact, he is owed so much already, all he has to do is actually ask for payment of that rent for the last however many years and we will be completely stuffed.

Yes he will make money from the development but he will make more money and for longer by the continual payment of rents from a very successful retail park at FF with a Championship football club in the middle. That is the aim.

Can I have some of what your on today please :winking:

RM has always said quite clearly when asked, that the club would directly benefit from the income streams created by the retail side of the project. He has always said the income generated by the overall developement was vital to the club's future growth & success. I can't see why he'd have said those things if all he intended to do was keep all the profits himself and saddle club with a huge rent. Obviously he is going to make money out of it all somehow, he's not a charity. But bankrupting the club in the meantime seems utterly pointless. How is an unused stadium going to help him? He's a businessman, not the devil.

Now I realise some on here think he is a bare faced liar who would say anything to get his way. They may be right. But personally I believe that whatever his methods, he does want success for the club and won't kill it just to line his pockets. I think he stands to make a lot more money if the club is succesful.

Ron basically wants to develop a £100 stadium & retail project with other peoples money, why he is now argueing over 500k initial payment is beyond me, he just always seems to find a problem with how authorites lay it out to him, he wants it his way all the time, but he is a business man, noit a very successful one by all accounts, still dont trust him!

My guess is when we move to the stadium, we will attract new owners because Ron has what he wants in the development, then he will screw the new owners & club down for rents etc, SUFC has just been a tool used to get where he wants, he has no use for sufc after the stadium & retail park is complete..

Oh dear !

RH is the moneymaker,The majority of clubs don't make money,You think we could return to the second level without the main stand?,When will this stand be completed?

You miss my point I think.

What I'm saying is that if he is so greedy and money orientated as everyone thinks, then he will want to maximise the return on the investment. That comes by getting the club as high up the leagues as possible to get a bigger slice of TV money and enabling the club to become profitable by allowing it to benefit from all of the other income streams so that it can pay rent. The sort of money he will reap from that will totally eclipse anything he gets out of RH.

No, I don't know what those income streams are either but apparently they are being put to good use by many other clubs who have new stadia. It's how smaller teams survive on lower gates when they don't have big benefactors apparently.

And to be honest, I'm not in the "Running a football club" industry so I'm not overly bothered where the money comes from as long as the club survives so I can go and support it. I'm also not particularly concerned where the money has come from that has kept us afloat for the last few years either. Every time a tax bill has been paid I haven't exactly noticed a clamour of people demanding to know where the money has come from to pay it... just many comments (probably some from me) about RM pulling a rabbit out of the hat again, borrowing from Peter to pay Paul, yada yada yada... in fact doing what most other businesses have to do on a daily basis to survive. Also in fact doing what most of us do in our lives on a daily basis by using credit cards to book a holiday or entering into finance to get a car on HP. We know it's probably not good financial management, but we justify it to ourselves anyway and worry about it later.

So many times people on this board have been proved wrong because they have judging a situation without any knowledge whatsoever of the real facts of the situation and are making assumptions based on their own views and prejudices.

To those who have actually been predicting the doom and gloom scenario, saying we'll get relegated, saying we'll go into administration and then fold, has anyone at any time over the last few years suddenly thought "You know what? I may have been wrong there and that means I might be wrong again because I don't have all the information."

Serious question.

Ron is a business man plan and simple. I totally agree with fbm he is in this to make as much profit as possible from the club and the assets he has.
We don't have all the facts and we certainly don't know what Ron will do next and all this second guessing will get us no where, I am going to enjoy the thought that I may get to sit in the stadium Three sides or Four.

Does anyone know if there are any minutes from yesterday's council meeting? Or alternatively can anyone who went (maybe Cricko?) provide a some kind of overview as to what the main arguments were and how many voted for/against etc. Thanks in advance.

I have asked this question countless times and I am hoping someone can explain it to me please....

Q. How will the football club survive without it's Main Stand (the main money maker) for possibly 5 years or forever?

I genuinely would like to hear some well thought out discussion on this. For me this is the biggest concern we have regarding the stadium development.

I too would like to hear.

Excellently put fbm.

Simple. It won't.

So then another question has to be....

Q. Is there a hotel operator/investor/whatever out there, who is going to part with circa. £25 MILLION quid in this climate, to get this key development built, within a timescale to keep us afloat?
