Well, with Carsley seemingly not wanting the job/talking himself out of it, the FA is apparently in talks with Thomas Tuchel...

Not sure about a German as England manager. He'd undoubtedly increase our chances of winning something but he also has a history of falling out with people. Would be a risk.

Talksport were going on about Pep being touted by the FA as the next manager.

Not sure how he'd get us playing in any sort of different style ready for the world cup, when he'd only be with the the team for about 20 days a year.

A fair few of the squad have already played for him - Foden, Grealish, Stones, Walker, Rico Lewis, Cole Palmer etc so he wouldn’t be starting from scratch.

Plus the likes of Arteta at Arsenal, ten Haag at Man Utd and Maresca at Chelsea all form part of his coaching tree so there will likely be lots of concepts/terminology familiar to much of the squad.

I'd be happy with Tuchel, his tactics aren't exciting but they're the kind of thing players can get to grips with within a week or two, which is what you want for international football where the squad only trains together every couple of months and more importantly his style is very effective in knockout tournaments.

Agree with that - I also think his style translates pretty well to the personnel we have.

the England manager should be English, the German manager should be German etc. It's like that for players, should be for managers. otherwise what's the point of international football?

He's got a good record, but falls out with people. managed to get Bayern to 3rd, which is some achievement.

Over the moon with Tuchel, think that’s a real statement of intent.

Undoubtedly the best man out there that is available at the moment.

Its coming home 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🦁🦁🦁
Good choice, was hoping for Klopp but Tuchel is at the right state in his career and reckon he’ll sort out this bunch of underachievers.

Could have been worse. We could have appointed a German.

I’m back to not watching again. Simple fact and nothing to do with racism. If you’re ineligible to play for an international country then you should be ineligible to manage it.

If the English FA cannot find a suitable enough English candidate that says everything you need to know about the state of the game in this country.

Oh and does it violate Brexit rules 😁

I do understand that argument, but don't agree with it. If a manager has to come from the country aswell how would tiny countries (like Gibraltar) that can only just cobble together a squad ever compete? They'd never find a manager and would therefore be excluded from all international competitions.

And before anyone says you could do it on ranking, you then have a situation where a coach improves a team and will either have to lose his job or accept his team will lose their "international status".

then if the england manager should be english then all the players should be also ,that goes for every nation , France would be in trouble think most of their team born in africa or such countries , Germany likewise too.
