A post that improves as it progresses 😉 some ‘challenging behaviours’, as your erstwhile employers might have said, evident in the early part 😁

One thing I would add to what you’ve said is that while they are 9 points ahead of us, we’ve had 10 deducted. They have also recently lost their manager and their best player, Stephen Wearne, who was a menace when we played them the last two seasons. They are capable of a result at Roots Hall - no doubt about it IMO - but we should also be confident we’ve got what it takes to win the match if we play to our standards.
One of the beauties of being retired, and as my profile states, living life disgracefully, means that I can chuck in a few, less than politically correct, phrases here and there, so up yours Fascist pig dog, persecuting the retired community !

Back on subject, I do think we need to just forget about our ten point deduction, it happened, we won't get them back and we need to live with where we are as a result, 9 points behind the Heed.

I also think we will stuff them on Saturday!

I agree on the points deduction, in general, but I do feel it is relevant to mention it when responding to an observation that we are 9 points behind someone 😉👍🏻

Ticket sales are now up to nearly 4,600, so with the normal 500 or so extras that appear at the game, a minimum attendance of between 5-6k looks likely again. Adam Crowther will be very happy at that as he joined us because of our fan base and big attendances at games, It also helped that we offered him wages to sign.

Just a reminder that trains to Southend have almost been obliterated on Saturday.

The Liverpool Street line is closed completely due to engineering works - buses from Newbury Park.

The trains from Liverpool Street to Shoeburyness via Stratford, which usually get retimetabled to Fenchurch Street via West Ham also seem to have been removed from the timetable probably due to Aslef.

This means just two direct trains an hour from London and two via Grays.

Edit Friday 2pm : the trains diverted to and from Liverpool Street are back on the C2C website but not on National Rail or Trainline - so I guess it’s a wait and see for live departures….

DANNY Waldron will head into his home debut for Southend United this weekend fully focused on football.

The Shrimpers striker, who signed from Rushall Olympic a fortnight ago, has now completed a notice period with his former employers working in finance.

And Blues boss Kevin Maher is keen to see the forward kick on, starting with Saturday’s clash against Gateshead at Roots Hall.

“Danny’s had to work a notice period in his job,” said Maher.

“He’s only had a couple of training sessions with us, but going forward now hopefully that’s put to bed.

“We’ve had to manage him and get him going, but hopefully he can really kick on now.”

Waldron came off the bench for Blues during the second half of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to table-topping Chesterfield.

The striker has scored 16 goals in National League North this season but he faces a fight to earn further opportunities at the Shrimpers with Marcus Dackers, Harry Cardwell and Henry Sandat also vying for selection in attack.

I’m gonna be late because of this - does anyone know how long the West Stand gates stay open after kickoff?

Crowd looking at around 5500 at the moment which should push towards the 6000 tormoow. Confess as slightly surprised as assumed there were significant numbers staying away due to Ron being in charge and although he technically still is it’s the consortium running the club. Our attendances havnt really changed that much. Guess if we go on a run now especially at home they may get nearer the 7000 mark. I believe 6 of next 9 are at home so the team really needs us to get behind them

We need to sign another striker to add 1000 to that ticket number 😂

I suspect that some are waiting for the final handover, some have found other things to do on Saturdays, others weren't really regular fans anyway. Whatever, those who stayed away missed some of the best matches and team spirit that I can remember. So it was a real sacrifice which may, or may not, have had real impact.

I hope that once Martin has departed the scene completely our attendances will grow significantly. Time will tell.

Almost as though we're not actually as big a club as we keep telling ourselves we are.

I'm not convinced there are hundreds staying away because of Ron Martin. Football fans will for the most part go if the team is playing well and winning games, which we have been. The consortium will give us a chance to grow the club but I'm not sure there are hundreds just waiting for Ron Martin to walk out the door, carrying his box of hair products, to start coming again.

Even before Ron Martin was here, this club barely got 4k through the door at times. We're in the 5th division, and that is going to be costing us young fans in the area who don't want to support a conference club.

So for now I think our ceiling is the odd big crowd if the stars align, but we'll mainly hover around the 6k mark for the rest of the season even when the deal is done. It's up to the new owners to try and grow the club, which does have potential.

It does make you wonder, the true figure of the people boycotting games, because of Ron doesn't it.
We were constantly being told on here, that a significant group of fans were boycotting games, So where are they now!!! because there has not been a big jump in attendances since Justin and the consortium took over.

the problem is Like Justin and his band of merry men .As Justin himself said they run the club but still dont oem it .Ans untill iether the council gets there fingers out Then sadly its still Rons name over the door And its been saud before untill he has gone you cant trust that man or his motives .So some fans are still very unsure .

5/6k is pretty good for side currently owned by ron and sitting 15th in the National League...... also as much as we as fans love roots hall from let's just say part time fan experience it's poor stadium to watch football in. I think once we know where we are as club with the new owners in place we should see upturn in our support for home games.

Its not just about the fans who are boycotting because of the rat which is probably a few hundred at best but more to do with the potential fans he has missed over his 20 odd year reign of terror.

There are plenty of Dad's who look would have looked at the absolute state of our facilities and just not want to take their kids top games, which leads to a generation percentage fallout and so on.

This club should have taken advantage of the fact its very expensive to go to London and watch the likes of Spurs, the growth of our town which is now a city status and the excellent local talent but that absolute rat was only thinking of his family fortune.

I think there are number of factors why attendances have stayed where they are..... the obvious factor is ron still incharge, what's the latest interms of final takeover completion? Looks to still be dragging on! Roots hall is another factor due to its poor facilities and reduced capacity which needs addressing..... some fans won't sit in the south lower if thats all whats available unfortunately i am 1 of them to. I agree winning does help to, plenty of fans who would probably jump on the train if Southend were challenging for automatic promotion, this league is another factor with 1 automatic place which should be 2 now, its true what they say its real ****er of league to get out of. When we add these factors in our attendances are probably right for our current situation.

Maybe you should change your username from SUFC4LIFE to i cant be BOTHER ANYMORE or maybe SUFC4LIFE BUT ONLY WHEN WE ARE GOING FOR GLORY.AND PROMOTION. .😂.Lol.

Every time you post you seem to be making excuses not to go to games, if we was all like you there wouldn't be a club to support.
