Dakkers has looked timid in front of goal.....imnwilling to bet Waldron would not....put him in
100% agree, not convinced by Dackers yet, and, despite his limited training time due to him having to serve notice at work, if Waldren is the instinctive striker we have chased for some time, he should have enough about him to hit the ground running.
Partner him with Cardwell from the start!

Cant see Waldron starting. Kev isnt really one for chucking players in. He has come up the levels from part time and Kev himself says he's only had a few sessions. We're not in a desperation situation where we need to chuck him in and hope he can swim.

Cardwell and Dackers again - or Cardwell and Sandat even. I'm probably in a minority that thought Dackers did ok at Chesterfield and amazed the stick he got vs Cardwell who barely had a kick (albeit coming back from injury).

Waldron can work his way in from the bench - and I get people are excited to get him going, sure Kev is too. But need to be realistic.

Lots of comments almost writing off Dackers. I personally thought his performance at Chesterfield was very good. Great control, movement and passing. Got himself in a great position when through one on one and missing but also had one cleared off the line. Looks a better option to start than Cardwell right now who I would use as a super sub whilst he is still getting fully fit.

I’d go with cards and Waldron. Waldron was scoring for fun so don’t bench him for too long as the habit will be dropped. Also I’d have sandat ahead of dackers - he seemed to be able to make something happen. Dackers seems to be dropping too deep to link up play rather than getting his 6 foot 7 frame into the box - maybe even bridge would cross early if he saw him in there!!

Maybe you should change your username from SUFC4LIFE to i cant be BOTHER ANYMORE or maybe SUFC4LIFE BUT ONLY WHEN WE ARE GOING FOR GLORY.AND PROMOTION. .😂.Lol.

Every time you post you seem to be making excuses not to go to games, if we was all like you there wouldn't be a club to support.
😄. Football forums are a place to voice an opinion. I'll be honest your right i dont attend games which is shame but its my choice, i want to see the new ownership in place before i commit to buying season ticket..... if that's an excuse then so be it. I was regularly attending matches in the west stand up until few years ago. I was planning to go to the Barnet game but decided not to due to it only having tickets in the south lower, personally would rather watch game on TV than sit there.

Gateshead to show patience with new signing Kain Adom ahead of Southend United clash (from the Sunderland Echo)

Rob Elliot has praised the ‘infectious’ impact of Gateshead new boy Kain Adom - but warned he will show patience as the winger adapts to life in the professional game. The former Welling United player was a surprise addition to the Heed ranks last month after he was persuaded to swap life in the National League South for a move to the North East where he will test his fortunes in non-league’s top tier for the first time.

Adom made a positive impact on his Gateshead debut when he came off the bench in a 1-0 defeat at Dorking Wanderers two weeks ago and introduced himself to the International Stadium faithful in fine style when he notched the decisive goal in last weekend’s 2-1 home win against Barnet.

Although his goal rightly captured the attention in the aftermath of the win over the Bees, Adom’s all-action display and the enthusiasm he showed after his introduction in the game enthused Gateshead’s supporters. Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Elliot has revealed he has been left with a similar impression of one of his most recent additions as he considers his options ahead of Saturday’s visit to Southend United.

He told The Echo: “He’s a lovely kid and I said to him after the game that his intensity since he came in shows he is someone that is relishing being full-time and being a professional. That’s been infectious and you can assess his performance against Barnet and say he maybe did a few things wrong - but the desire and mentality to be effective is what completely overrides all of that and leaves us with a good feeling.

“Once he gets to grips with how we play, once he gets to grips with the system, he’s going to be a very exciting player and he has a real desire to score goals. But we have to look after him, we have to look after his body and it doesn’t mean we are doing to play him every week. We have a lot of games coming up and he will get his chance.”

Elliot is hoping for positive news on the fitness of midfielder and vice-captain Ed Francis after he made a recent return to training. Francis has been out of action since he suffered a fractured skull in the New Year’s Day defeat at York City - although Saturday’s visit to Roots Hall could come too soon for a return to on-field action. Former Sunderland and Liverpool defender Jordan Hunter could be handed another chance to shine after impressing Elliot during the win against Barnet.

Expect him to start tomorrow then!

Our attendances have gone up since the 'take over'
Average home crowd for first 5 games was 5,454
Average home crowd for last 5 games was 7,202.

First game of the season attendance was 5,881 with over 600 Oldham.
Tomorrow will be over 6,000 with 50 away fans.
Most of those first 5 games would be during the school holidays wouldn't they? Attendances always a touch lower.

Be interesting to see if there is a jump in attendances (and if related in timing to consortium) or if they have crept up as the season progresses. BBC aren't consistently showing attendances so couldn't check quickly

We have to be realistic about attendances.

We are a 5th tier side. We are very much mid table and 10 points off of the play offs.

We are playing a team that like others we have faced will bring literally no away support.

A cost of living crisis thrown in and 6k+ is still a decent crowd.

Only chesterfield who are top of the league and have vastly better facilities and Oldham who are in the play offs spots are above us.

Once the facilities improve and we start afresh without a points deduction I'm sure our average will be much better.

That’s a sizeable increase considering we are still just 4 points above the drop. We can allow a little for early season holidays etc. But that’s a clear jump on the back of the takeover.

Tidy the place up and give us a settled promotion chasing side and that will be over 8,000 on the regular.

Anyhow, getting a fair way off topic here. I’d personally like to see Waldron get a start tomorrow, although with only a handful of training sessions behind him due to his work commitments (which are now over) perhaps it’s a little soon for him. Perhaps a good 20/30 min run out instead.

Gateshead are hardly in great form themselves, but had a decent win v Barnet recently. Certainly a game we should be aiming to win if our faint play off hopes are to remain.
