Yes mate, I also went to the Stockport and Bristol City games.

I also went to today's game and saw the Northampton highlights, and am confident that Prosser can put in a far more assured display than Moshni, who's head is firmly lodged in the clouds.

Sorry, that came across a bit sarcastic (and the OTT smiley doesnt help!) - I was just saying that they were a shocking pairing that game as no doubt you saw.

Moshni needs game time - me and my mate said it last week that the best way to do is (unfortunately) fast track him through the 1st team, rather than the reserves - and spookily, Sturrock said exactly the same tonight. Blamed Moshni for some of the defensive errors, but said we have to play him in the 1st team to get him used to it. So I guess its just suck it up for now...

Once communication improves and he learns a bit more about positioning and when/where to go hunting for the ball, then he'll be a star.

Irrelevant we lost.

Not it is not irrelevant as it was in response to someone claiming Morcambe outplayed us.

They didnt, both sides were poor and they snatched a win through poor defending thats all.

If we were outplayed then the issue would be the team isnt good enough when the key problem today was poor defending.

Whilst that's true, it's also costing us... big time. What with Torquay's, the two at Northampton and two today, that's five goals in three games he's been responsible for and we really can't continue to carry that kind of deficit. We can't keep putting ourselves in the firing line for his mistakes in the hope that, sooner or later, his positioning would improve. That's six points we've dropped and, whilst I'll be reluctant to say it's his fault, he's certainly contributed to our defensive frailty.

At the beginning of the season, in our league games and against Bristol City, we looked defensively assured. Since his inclusion, we've looked all over the shop and that's all down to his rabid unpredictability that puts everybody on tenterhooks.

I cant be bothered with ratings until cold light of day tomorrow but here are my thoughts on today

1. Morecambe know how to play League 2 football. Physical and tough. They didnt outplay us today but they were the better team and deserved to win
2. Barry Corr would be wise to watch the match video and see how Mullin played as the front man. It was a brilliant display
3. How can people be saying we lost to the bottom team and should be ashamed.. we are only a few games in, and Morecambe made playoffs last year
4. Moshni wasnt totally to blame today but clearly the communication is a BIG issue
5. Hall and Simpson looked devoid of any passion today. Sorry boys, but not good enough
6. Grant - far too good for this level
7. The attendances are getting smaller and smaller
8. Referee was very poor today - got almost everything wrong
9. Clohessy looked good today...
10. **** it I'm off for a beer

Jam, my book is about winners, nobody remembers the losers... OK i should have said "Beaten" but lets face it we might as well have been out played because we lost, it won't take many more of those, for us to be replacing Morecombe at the foot of the table.

Oh and one last thing before I log off because I can't be bothered to slip into depression...WE ARE THREE POINTS OFF A PLAYOFF PLACE NOW CHEERS UP!!

Up the blues!

And two points of the bottom of the league.

Its still too early to make judgements about where we will finish.

We can't beat a side without a win and who are 92nd in the League. It says it all. I agree with what most say, defensively we were awful, we dominated large spells of the game, we have no goal threat yadder yadder yadder. What really got my goat was as soon as they scored their 3rd, we gave up. Same thing happened at Northampton last week. That game was there for the winning yet we really never ever looked like doing it!

Morris - 6 certainly at fault for the second. A League keeper MUST be claiming those sort of crosses.

Clohessy - 7 I am starting to like this guy. Ok, so he has limits, but you can't fault his effort and is getting better every game.

Gilbert 4 - Anonymous

Barker 7 - Clearly our class defender and is playing well below his level. It can't be easy for him having chaos and unpredictability next to him. Which brings me to...

Mohsni 3 - When I first saw him I thought he was going to be a legend, he won everything. He was dreadful last week and worse this week. It wasn't only his defending. There were several crosses in the second half he should have headed but didn't really seem to want to. He needs a spell in the reserves and Barker needs him in the reserves as well. Get Coughlan in next week!

Hall 5 - Showed some nice moves and let go a decent effort, but saw little else.

Timlin 6 - Did ok for a debut and looks to have a bit of ability.

Grant 7 - Another goal, but faded badly as those around him gave up the ghost

Simpson 4 - Worst game I've seen him play

Corr 6 - At times looked quite nimble, at times looked like Roy McDonough. Not sure if he was fit. Not sure how is goal wasn't chalked off.

Sturrock 5 - I can see what he is trying to do, but it doesn't work in this team. "Infuriating" is the best word I can think of him.

Subs

Soares 4 - Utterly dreadful.

Herd 5 - Brought on because we were so desperate for a new tactic, we went for the long throw

Spencer 6 - At least he is enthusiastic.

Referee - I didn't see the Mohsni incident, but he handled it appallingly and gave the impression he didn't know what to do.

Stating the bleedin' obvious, but defensively today we were woeful. Moshni was terrible and I was surprised that Coughlan wasn't on for the start of the second half. Grant as ever was the stand out player for us, but I'd like to offer a word of praise for Hall, again he showed some good touches and delivery from set pieces, and had a cracking shot parried by their keeper, which begged the question why on earth didn't Corr or Sturrock follow the shot in the hope of a rebound. Although Corr scored he was terrible, for a big bloke he barely gets off the ground when he jumps. A loan striker is a must.

Finally the ref, Mr Russell has been one of the better refs I've seen at division 3 & 4 level, but today he was quite poor, and Shuker should have been sent off for his assault on Moshni. Shuker was on the deck, and he launched himself off the ground and both feet caught Moshni in the chest. Moshni may have been lucky to escape a yellow for retaliating.

It worries me that when we went 3-2 down, all the fight seemed to sap away from us. The substitutions did nothing (what is this obsession with Johnny Herd?) and the game faded away.

Other things I noticed:

  • Morecambe may not have played well but they certainly weren't the worst team we'll see at Roots Hall this season.
  • How many times did two of our players go for the same ball? We don't seem to be communicating at all out there. I know the players need time to gel but we've had a fair few games now.
  • Mullin was the best player on the pitch, sort of player we're crying out for.
  • We look like a shambles in and around our own box, it's like there's no organisation. 2 of their three goals simply shouldn't have happened.
  • Timlin continues our current standard for loanees. Oh for the days of Federici, Dervite etc!!

We look like a team that will pick up enough points not to be bothered by relegation but I think it's 14th-16th for us this season, just can't see us putting a run of results together.

If Granty carries on the way he's going then he'll almost certainly be gone in January.

Morris - 7
Clohessey - 7
Moshni - 5
Barker - 7
Gilbert - 5
Simpson - 6

Timlin - 4
Corr - 6
Sturrock - 6

Herd - 5

Wait a minute - 5000 at home to Morecambe? Apologies but I think that is a great attendance!

They get 1500!

FFS what is wrong with you people?

all i can say is i cant wait for the questions answers night on thursday as i cant see why he plays his son up front on his own as he has never been a goalscorer, at least play someone up front with him, what has poor paterson done to deserve a place on the bench, when he is a goalscorer at this level.

Blair Sturrock didn't play up front on his own. While you may be right about Paterson what proof do you have that he'll be a goal scorer at this level?

was you even at the game, think you were watching a different game pal, as for paterson he looks the only one that looks as if he actually wants to play up front for the club and do well not some two bob player thats on a short two bob contract that cant be arsed.

Every time I've seen Paterson this season he has looked totally ****ed, he is lazy and weak. Chasing down defenders is too much of an effort for him.
