But as Sturrock said in his interview a conference striker moved to another conference club for £225000 recently (don't ask me who, I don't know, but I don't see why it'd be wrong) we can barely afford to pay player wages, let along pay money for half-decent non-league strikers. We still scored 2 today it wasn't that bad a performance, its just been clouded by a poor last 20 minutes, before that we looked like we'd win. We seem to always go wrong after 60 minutes, maybe its a fitness thing?

The damage was done in the first 25 minutes, it was nothing to do with fitness but woeful defending for all 3 goals.

You cant expect to win games if you concede 3 at home to the bottom team in the league.

We were terrible today other than a decentish spell early in second half, but theres no passing, little link up between any players and despite scoring two we just dont look threatening.

Even 442 we had no width to speak of.

Totally dire performance and improvement needed...

Oh and whilst the ref did his best to be lenient that kick out at Moshni was a straight red. If Beckham got sent off against Argentina for what he did, and Eastwood for a push then lashing out with both feet into the chest of an opponent whilst you are laying down has to be a sending off !?!?

After reading some posts on here I can't see how some of you are taking positives out of this game, maybe it's the beer but we were out played by the team at the bottom of the league. I thought we needed time to gel, it looks as if the longer we play together the worse we become, come one blues get your fingers out next time we are looking at a crowd in the 4000 region

We were not outplayed!!

We let in 3 sloppy goals and were dire but we were not out played by them.

Outplayed? I know BBC stats are often wrong but according to them we had more possession, 11-1 on corners and more shots on target.
We forced good saves from their keeper while I can think of very few shots Morecombe had except their goals, and they were all from individual errors

Well that was crap.

Hard to pinpoint where it went wrong, as so many bad things happened.

Defence - I'd call it schoolboy defending, only it wasn't that good. The goals we conceded were terrible. Morecombe won't score 3 easier goals all season.

Shape and tactics - was there any? It seemed more of a mash-up. Too many people running around like headless chickens.

Attack - It has to be said, Corr and Sturrock were largely crap. The hold-up from Sturrock was ok-ish, but he didn't threaten. Corr done one thing right, by putting the ball in the back of the net, but was poor everywhere else. He didn't chase balls, he won maybe 2 headers all afternoon and was generally out-muscled. Bottom line, he should have been hooked.

Fitness - Why is our fitness so ****? It's becoming a regular occurance, running out of steam in the last 10-15 minutes. It's near on impossible to score, when you haven't got the legs to create chances.

Panic football - the type we displayed in the last 10 minutes. i.e. ball goes back to keeper/defender and is hoofed 70 yards forward in the hope something will happen. Surely after the 4th time of it not working, you'd change it a bit? I don't know, maybe get the ball down on the deck and pass the ****? We had spells where we were knocking it around and Morecombe looked lost.

Sturrocks substitutions - strange at best. Gilbert was ****, but at 2-3 down at home, the damage is done. Paterson and Spencer should have come on (not too sure if they'd have made much of a difference, but who knows)

Louie Soares - gets his own special mention for putting in the worst 15 minutes display i've ever seen. Clueless on the ball, even worse at passing and generally crap

Morecombe - were nothing special, in fact, being honest, they were jank. So what does that make us?

Ratings;

Morris - 6

Clohessy - 5

Hall - 3

Corr - 2

Sturrock - 3

SUBS;

Spencer - 3

Soares - 0

Ref - bottled it when a straight red card was warranted in the 1st half. therefore he's a pussy

TBV - 7 think you guys must have missed TGC today as it wasn't as good as usual :), but came across well enough in the East

All over the place at the back, no command of the midfield and powder puff up front, it's just a good job that Morecambe were so poor. I don't understand Sturrock senior's team selections. If we're going to play 4-4-2, it's a nonsense to have Corr and Sturrock up front - they are both effectively target men and neither can play off the other. Mohsni needs a break from the first team and Coughlan should have come on at half time. And what on earth was the Soares substitution all about when we have two genuine strikers on the bench??
Ratings:-

Morris 5 - badly at fault with the second goal and it may be time to give Evans a run.

Clohessy 6 - good going forward and didn't do much wrong defensively.

Mohsni 4 - the usual mixture of the good and bad, but too many mistakes if he's going to play in this position. At least he was better than Prosser against Port Vale.

Barker 7 - did his best to hold the back line together.

Gilbert 5 - never really got to grips with his winger and allowed the cross for the second goal much too easily.

Simpson 4 - very, very poor today. An absolute stinker.

Grant 7 - good driving forward, but we are missing his ball winning in the middle of the park.

Timlin 5 - sprayed some nice passes, but never began to fill the Easton role in front of the back four and that's why we were constantly on the back foot.

Hall 6 - a sweet left foot, but he needs to toughen up at this level.

Corr 5 - had a few chances before he scored, but never a real threat.

Sturrock 5 - incapable of playing the support striker role. No pace, no eye for goal, his flicks weren't coming off. I'm afraid that he's becoming the main target for the boo boys and that is going to make life tough for his dad.

No markings for the subs as they weren't on long enough, but Soares did enough to reinforce my assessment of him as my least favourite player in the new-look side. What does Sturrock see in him??

Blimey even scoring a goal and he gets a 2.

In my book being beaten 3-2 by bottom of the last division in the league at home is being out played. We ain't on the playstation, so you know what you can do with stats, and to top it all I lost my ticket, so it cost me 36 quid to watch that....

Was very disappointed with Timlin and Simpson today - both seemed to be going through the motions. Timlin ducked out of every tackle and couldnt pass for toffee. Hall really tried to get involved and worked hard, as did grant.

Mohsni at the back seems to be playing in a 'free role'. Not really sure i've ever seen that for a centre half before - he'll get better I hope.

Clohessy starting to impress me, certainly one of the lights in todays dross

Ref - no idea how a flying kick in the chest as retaliation is only a yellow card. He did give us a bit back by allowing Corrs goal to stand, many refs would have blown for a foul on the keeper (even if he didn't touch him!)

Clear foul on Moshni too for one of their goals - think it was the 2nd. Think it was Shuker that had hold of Moshni's shirt pulling him down. As my mate said though, Shuker is 5ft and Moshni is 6"3, so he shouldnt be outmuscled, but even so, a fouls a foul.

The worrying thing about this present squad is that defensively they seem to have fallen apart. We have no real goal threat from the strikers, Corr is best of a bad bunch. However, early in the season it did at least seem that the team could defend and you felt that we would pick points by keeping a few clean sheets.
Today was so depressing, it makes you want to weep when you think of where we were just 18 months ago. It seems that the heart has been ripped out of our club by a chairman who obviously doesn't seem to like successful managers and coaching staff. We seem to have very few decent players who would command a transfer fee. Only Granty (a Tilly signing) and possibly the potential of Ryan Hall. Neither of these are ex Sturrock (Plymouth, Swindon, Sheff Wed) which seems to be the norm when it comes to signings.
16th in Division Two, what happy days these are.

Your book is wrong then, a team who has less possession, who only managed to win one corner compared to our 11 and fewer shots than us did not outplay us.

Did you go to the Port Vale game? :D

Yes mate, I also went to the Stockport and Bristol City games.

I also went to today's game and saw the Northampton highlights, and am confident that Prosser can put in a far more assured display than Moshni, who's head is firmly lodged in the clouds.

I think you'll find though, that the stat that is the most important is the one where it sayd we scored 2 and they scored 3.

FWIW I agree with you. We outplayed them in large spells, but that in itself is a worry.

We have a bad reputation for paying wages, mainly only people who know Sturrock personally would even think about playing for us we have no money to buy people.

We lost thats true, but we werent played off the park, they came and snatched a win down to poor defensive errors again.
