Gilbert didnt impress at all, for their second goal he just invited the winger to cross which he duly did, looked slow and never got forward to support Hall. .........................

sorry but Sturrock Jnr will never score more than 5 goals in a season, his effort in the first half when he was baring down on goal, and ended up stalling and passing it backwards, sums him up. He slows the play down, never looks like hitting the target.
Corr wasnt much good, their centre back had him in his pocket but if we actually gave him some good crosses into the box I think he would do well.

Hooray!! someone at the same game as me - you are actually me and I claim my £5.00!!

And I've just re-read the thread and seen this comment, incredibly patronising and you should be ashamed of yourself. I drink pints at football (mainly cos the wine is godamn awful) but the bars should, as Roxy says, cater to all its STHs and other supporters. It should have been an across the board reduction in prices for one day, discrimination of some kind I should think, what about the extortionate price for soft drinks at the bar as well for the non-drinkers? I assume they weren't included either.

I've never been to a bar where all drinks have been included in a happy hour promotion, it's usually a selected group. Personally I praise the club in trying to get some fans drinking in the bars before games as it gets them some cash. Having a promotion on pints will get them extra sales on other drinks (wine/ soft drinks etc), that's not discriminatory, it's just business.

Obviously the club can't win, it's typical that they have a drinks promotion and all people can do is find something to moan about.

I think theres a good argument for women being banned from Roots Hall altogether. I had the most irritating woman behind me yesterday, constantly having a go at Mullin their bald striker for using his arms to jump (he is allowed to darling), had a go at one of their players for being too short and generally coming out with annoying rubbish, all in a proper Sharon and Tracey accent. It did tarnish somewhat the feast of football that was being put on before my very eyes.

And I was sat next to one(in the East Reds)who really knew the game and was clearly a loyal supporter.Apart from not clapping the :bluebelles:at half time I couldn't fault her performance.:)

Brilliant. Absolutely spot on. I'd start with that one that sits in the West, around the halfway line ;)

Morris - 6 dont think i can fault him at any of the goals, but still not my pick for southend number 1

Clohessy 6 - average performance nothing outstanding
Barker 6 - Tried, still looks our best defender by far even tho we looked terrible at back!
Moshni 5 - Very Raw, Didnt win as many balls in the air as i thought he would.
Gilbert 4 - Not very good at all, Thinks its now time to bring Phillips/Coughlan back in at centre half so Barker can go back to Left Back

Simpson 5 - Was expecting alot more from him, not a right midfielder in my eyes
Grant 8 - Outstanding Goal, Best player by far.
Timlin 6 - Tidy at times, Looks like he's got a decent strike on him.
Hall 5 - Another player i expected more from, Didnt go past the right back too many times, Best bit of his game was his Free kick that hit side netting

Corr 6 - Needs a small speedy striker who reads his flick on's upfront with him.
Sturrock 5.5 - Held the ball up well, slowed play down probably a little too much, never looks like he wants to shoot!!

Herd 6 - Wasnt on long but did his usual
Spencer 6 - Brought on too late in my opinion, needs his opportunity
Soares 5 - Wrong person to bring on, Doesnt impress me at all, Lazy

Sturrock/Widdrington - Still impressed with the way they've gone bout things, like the fact we aint got same excuses after a defeat, and someone who comes out and clearly has a go at players

Atmosphere - Poor, was in the east could hardly hear the west. Surely we can have the North bank, Morecambe brought down 43 fans what a waste of a great acoustic stand.

Morris 6 - No chance with the first but should be claiming the second across his sex yard box

Clohessy 6 - Pick of the back four but he didn't have to do much to warrant that.
Barker 6 - Think he's being a bit harsh on himself taking the blame, the ball has travelled a long way back from him giving it away in their half.
Mohsni 4 - Pre season he looked the nuts, he's now costing us goals at an alarming rate. I'd like to see Prosser back in who has been in my opinion unfairly bombed off after a bad half against Port Vale.
Gilbert 4 - Dosen't do enough to stop the cross for the second goal, their guy could have walked around him.

Simpson 5 - Had a quiet couple of games now. Not so sure he's suited on the right.
Grant 8 - Head and shoulders above anyone else. Another superb strike.
Timlin 5 - Poor defending for the first goal. Decent strike in the second half.
Hall 6 - Needs to believe in himself and take on his man, he has the pace and skill.

Corr 5 - Ok, he scored but did nothing else.
Sturrock 5 - Does the donkey work but he needs to shoot.

Herd 4 - You need to have more to your game than a long throw. I agree with the decision to take Gilbert off but Coughlan should have come on and Barker move across to LB.
Soares 4 - Did nothing, again.
Spencer 4 - Touched it once, when it smacked him in his face!

Officials 0 - It's either a red card or nothing, I would like to know what offence he was booked for because there was only one offence there which has to be a red card.
