Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 1-1 Woking

Mooney is easily our most talented player, but we need it give up trying to make him a no10. He’s a wide player and we need to find a way to use him that way.

I found it so frustrating tonight that we left our changes so late. We had so much impetus after the goal and we just let wither away. One of their centre backs was cramping up and having to constantly stretch from the 70th minute, yet we brought Powell on with four minutes left? Absolutely bizarre.

Hopefully the guy in the East hasn’t caused us to get an unneeded fine by the league tonight…

Colin …. Conceded 1 goal in 4 games, I think he’s doing just fine and only going to get better and better. Plus he’s OUR player. I feel confident with him between the sticks personally.
Yes I’m not digging him out. I’ve felt confident with him in goal this season but last few games he has worried me a bit. Think he could have done better with the goal tonight, but that easy to say of course. Think he is also getting targeted at corners etc. as for goals conceded that’s as much to do with those in front of him and no coincidence that Lopata is one of them. Also Hobson and Kensdale have been excellent also. Does need to improve on his kicking though

Yes I sat behind that shot and thought he would easily parry it away…..amazed it sailed past him…..distribution terrible as well. Like him as a keeper but needs a year away for experience. Time to get someone else in who won’t get bullied

Certainly needs to sort his kicking out but he's growing in confidence with more experience. Could become a very good goalkeeper with more games and coaching... has done really well.

A difficult game to assess tonight I thought, but my takeaways…

Draw a fair result. Woking one of the better sides I’ve seen this year.

First time this season I have seen Miley and Husin outplayed in the middle of the pitch was in that first half but they came out swinging (literally) in the second half and took control again.

Mooney, Mooney, Mooney…a flicker away from being an outrageously good footballer at this level. Keep the faith as it’s definitely there.

Lack of goals still. I feel we are playing some beautiful football at times but then when we get in and around the area we slow it down and give the defenders time to reset. Then the final ball has to be pinpoint and that’s not always an easy thing. I’m sure there are some much better game analysts on here than me with some ideas for why the goals aren’t coming?

Thought they were all over us in the 1st half & despite the ref's determination to give Woking as many chances as they needed to score they could have easily been 2 up by 1/2 time.

We were a different team second half so it really was a game of 2 halves and a decent game of football and fair result.

The officials are so shocking in this league it's almost laughable if it wasn't so annoying but them aside we still struggle to score despite controlling the football and it's very concerning.

I still have every faith in the 3 amigo's but we are not getting out of this league scoring the amount of goals we do. Conceding goals has improved dramatically and it's been so noticeable since Kacper signed, he is a league or 2 above every player on the pitch again tonight.

Well the easiest night award goes to their goalkeeper’s gloves. I don’t think they were used in anger. Great finish by Dackers but apart from the goal their keeper was a spectator. Unless we fix that we won’t be in the mix come the end of the season. If the embargo stops us extending Dackers then we have to hope Murphy’s recovery doesn’t take too long.

I too was disappointed we didn’t see Powell on earlier against their cramping number 5.

I agree with you Nick Kev is the right man to lead us forward we do need to score more goals

Classic game of two halves played almost entirely on the East Stand side of the pitch. Jack Bridge was ignored much of the first half whilst largely unmarked on the West Stand side, and Gus Scott-Morris fared only slightly better in the 2nd half.

Looked very lacklustre in the first half - had expected a few changes so close to Saturday's game - but obviously had some urgency drilled into them at half time as they were much better.

Still way too much passing it about at the back and nearly played ourselves into trouble a couple of times, especially when being closed down on Collin. Sometimes one less pass and a quicker ball out to the wing works wonders.

Thought Jack Bridge worked really hard 2nd half and was surprised to see him last the match, thought Clifford was ready to come on for him earlier. Didn't get why Powell wasn't given longer, thought he represented something different to try against the Woking defence, which, give them their credit, seemed to cope well with our forwards.

Midfield worked hard though again, too much passing backwards. Thought Kensdale was the pick of the defence today - I like that they all shine at different times.

Collin - 6, some poor decision making but one truly great save
Scott-Morris - 7, worked hard
Hobson - 7, solid and some decent tackles
Lopata - 7, ditto
Kensdale - 8, MOTM, seemed to be the one who took control there tonight
Bridge - 7, caused problems
Husin - 7, guilty of a couple of wayward passes
Miley - 8, got some important touches in to take the ball off the Woking players' boots
Mooney - 6, not his night
Hyde - 6, another who didn't seem at the races
Dackers - 7, seemed lazy in the 1st half, much better 2nd. Probably the last game we'll see of him at home

Everyone has already said plenty about the officials, they were absolutely awful - and to think how we used to moan about Trevor Kettle and Gavin Ward!!!

We couldn't see what had gone on in either the goal mouth melee or in front of the East Stand but I heard that their player, Wilkinson, had gone into the crowd and was assaulting supporters? You can't have that, and if it's true, he should have been given a red not a yellow. See they've just tweeted about a racial incident, well, that will be interesting to see what happens.

Life's never dull these days, is it?

Wilkinson was attacked first by a fan.. several punches to the head.

I believe his last game for us is Saturday against Daggers.
Shame he has to gonreally.

Didn’t think it was a brilliant “footballing” game tonight but it was certainly entertaining at times and one I particularly enjoyed
Is gonreally a sexual infection? Asking for a friend
