Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-1 Yeovil Town

For once he hardly said anything… I’d be all for him having a bit of attack in him, unlike the football served up!
I agree. The 4th official was on Kev's case right from the start. For me, irs no wonder he was sent off. The 4th official was the biggest a*****le on the day. Pretty sure he was directing the ref with the appalling decisions as well.

Really can't have a dig at Kev. Before he has ripped at refs, but today he genuinely didn't say anything out of place, which is why he was utterly bemused at getting any card. All he did was question why we didn't get a penalty, and even then, his comments were really mild and not aggressive.

The 4th was after him from the word go. Same with Daz and Benno. We've had that 4th before and he has it out for them for some reason. Absolute tosser and the ref did what she was told by him.
I saw and heard what you did Phil, that is almost nothing, much ado about nothing. The 4th was, literally following Kev around talking at him all the time, as if he wanted to force a reaction. Daz stayed away from him as best he could but it was unusual to see the mild mannered Benno getting angry about him. If those officials ever reff'd the likes of Holloway or Strachen then neither would last 5 minutes without straight reds.

Good for her. She was ****ing atrocious today

Edit: as she’s from mildenhall, maybe in a few years she’ll be back at RH & we’ll sing “she used to be sh1te, but now she’s alright”.

Another heroic defeat. I certainly couldn't fault the fitness or effort that the players put in, but an equaliser just did not look likely, and so it turned out. You had to give Yeovil credit as they played very neat football, mostly to feet and were very quick to boot. Their goal? **** happens, and he won't get another cross to fly into the goal a again this season I bet.

Until the sending off it was a pretty even game with both teams matching each other. Even after the goal there was still hope that an equaliser would happen on balance of play, but not to be sadly. Mr Jeacock will have learnt a painful lesson from the sending off, but ironically it now leaves the way open for Collin to step up again. I do wonder whether Kevin May-her (well pronounced Mickey G) will learn to keep his mouth shut, probably not, as he has previous, but that is no example to his team.

Defensively I thought we kept our shape well and we certainly kept the Yeovil attack at bay well apart from the goal. In the middle players ran their socks off, but I think the time is soon approaching where Noor needs a rest and Cav Miley starts a game. Will that be at Altrincham? maybe.

Heroic?

Yeovil passed the ball around well and looked more aggressive than us. That said they hardly created a huge number of opportunities, did they? Think enough's been said about the ref and her pet fourth official. My only question is we're chasing the ball constantly and getting tired so why wait until the 73rd minute to look at changes and what is the point of giving Appiah Forson THREE minutes? Again, I'm afraid Bonne flattered to deceive. First two contributions were fouls, next two were pathetic efforts to challenge for the ball. The loss of Walker counted for a lot. I don't blame Colin for the goal - a lucky strike, simple as that. Onwards. COYB!

Put his hands in the air- that’s all it takes now apparently- the administrators are doing all they possibly can to ruin the game.

BTW for the sending off the referee originally had the yellow out? Then surrounded by Yeovil players (is this allowed now or is it another about turn) it became a red. Now maybe the red was correct, nonetheless

Three things can be true at the same time:
- bad misjudgement by the keeper to come out in the incident that led to the red
- the officials were dire
- we weren’t at our best (although with 10 men the game was pretty even? So maybe not that bad in the circumstances?)

Women professional footballers have my very deepest sympathy. ..I have a lot of time for women’s football and how standards have risen so far, they also it seems deserve better..

It’s telling that you would rather advocate for women being referees than have a competent official for our games. She isn’t going to go out with you pal.
Not an advocate for women or men's refs: just those competent. In the NL, they're at a premium.
You didn't see her in the other five games did you? But you dismissed her performance as 'five too many' without evidence. Agreed?
