Post-Match Thread and Ratings Southend United 0-1 Sittingbourne Town

Agreed. Right from the first minute when Taylor put his foot in the ball, jogged forward 5 yards and urned the ball backwards only for the ball to be passed back to him you felt that they did not have the required intensity. That was no where near good enough. Summed up by a player in extra time trying something fancy in his own 6 years box. They really should hang their heads in shame.
Taylor, most peoples favourite is the worst offender for passing it backwards, how he got P.O.S over Mr. Dependable Ralph was a mystery!

They are professional footballers. They know that the danger is you don’t turn up properly, allow yourself the misplaced arrogance you will win simply by turning up. So what they should know is you are on your game, get ahead early, capitalise and earn the right to come off the pedal.

The players need to have a long hard look at themselves. We had the formation we all want with a line up that should have been plenty good enough showing the same application, with the same formation we had over the last couple of games.

Kev will not have said look it’s Sittiingbourne take it easy. Approach the game differently. I suspect one or two have worked themselves a little way from starting again any time soon.

That game was a microcosm of everything wrong with Mahers crab style football. We were far too slow, happy to **** around at the back and just take our time. Possession means bugger all if you don't do something with it
The last time he got slaughtered into playing more attacking football it worked , and then he went straight back to CRAB....last week was decent again, and now he reverts to CRAB....HE IS USELESS AND STUBBORN!

Genuine question as I’ve had a few beers, didn’t they make four subs at four separate intervals today?

Is there a chance we live on? 😂

FWIW, I hope not. It’s another **** performance we have to watch.

He does not tell them to go backwards and sideways- on the contrary he screams at them to move the ball more quickly and pick forward passes. But the players seem incapable of doing it consistently. Maybe that’s why they are NL players that no EFL clubs are interested in. They are very inconsistent- is it confidence that’s fragile? Who knows.

Congratulations Sittingbourne. You took your chance after we had squandered all of ours, although It sounded that they also defended heroically. The worst news of the day may turn out to be the injury to GSM..... hopefully It won't? Personally, and it's not sour grapes, l'm more embarrassed than upset about going out of this competition. I'll be far more concerned with a defeat in our next league game.

Just listened to the boss on the BBC.

Does the geezer ever hold his hands up?

Any apology to the fans for the performance?

Acknowledge that wasn't good enough?

He sounds as inspirational as Keith from the office.
Couldn’t even be bothered to come over to the north bank after the game. Let the players take all the flack as per usual.

For the life of me I don’t know why we didn’t start with our strongest side and try to kill it off early. We ain’t going down and ain’t going up, so why not go for it. Kev was on a bit of a roll until this mare and it’s back to square 1 for him. Couple of shockers out there today, unfortunately Morton was one of em.

Taking the season as a whole, the biggest disappointment has been seeing so many of our players either stagnate or go backwards in terms of quality.

Whoever is in charge in the summer needs to have a good think about each and every one of our players and whether they have the required quality and commitment to be pushing in the right direction next season.

FWIW, there are no more than a handful of players who would be shoe ins for next season. You can't replace the majority of the squad in one transfer window but we do need to see a turnover of players.

I think Waldron's time is now definitely up, wanted him to do well, but when he came on today he fell over, and had a free header that he missed timed and hit his shoulders, we never really cut them open everything was just balls in to the box, which to be fair to them they dealt with well, their keeper agrivated the life out of me time wasting, but they came to do a job and they did it. I thought hopper probably should of stayed on as he can hold the ball up well and was doing well defensively, oh well frustrating afternoon which is what this team gives us from time to time, we are now a bang average national League team and will be at this level for a while
