Some Club Staff Salaries Late/Embargo Chat - now resolved (for now)

Its not just in Southends case, if someone can explain to me just how Barcelona can afford to sign anyone I'll be very grateful

They're basically mortgaging future revenues and selling it now for short term liquidity.

Spotify sponsoring/owning naming rights for stadium 'Spotify Nou Camp' - 280m euros
Sold 10% of their la liga tv rights package for next 25 years - 210m Euros
Sold percentage of licensing & merchandise rights for 295m euros

But of course still some ethical dilemmas that I think is quite frankly rancid that they are somewhat avoiding. £60m on Raphina, £43m on Lewandowski but yet stalling on paying up Frenkie De Jongs £17m deferred wages.

True - but not in Southend's case.
Our Chairman is expected to give managers whatever players they want and be immune to financial or cash-flow issues. Do that and he'll be ignored. Fail on either front and he'll be pilloried by fans who expect him to plug all gaps in income to meet their desired expenditure.
Go home, you're drunk.

So they are simply pushing the problem down the road, it kinda feels like financial fair play should prevent this but I guess that doesn't apply to Barcelona who are only 11Bn in debt.

The whole thing shows how broken football is

Quite rightly pilloried I think you will find. Someone who has proven over many years to be completely unable to set a realistic budget and manage cash flows during lean times. All Southend fans have ever asked is for a side to be proud of, never been expected to be big spenders.

I'm not a Ron fan, but I think he deserves some credit for keeping the club going over the last 20 or so years. I realise that this has been done more by luck than good judgement and that we have sailed very close to the wind numerous times, but the club still exists.

There's that, but some football insiders are speculating wether Barcelona are leveraging all this cause they may know something we all don't...potential European Super League coming back into the frame? That's what some think

The ESL just naturally isn't going to go away, far too much money in it. The UEFA fat cats will die trying to find a way to make it happen.

The only thing that ****ing cretin deserves credit for is somehow managing to spin such an impressive web of propagandist bull**** and convince the weak and gullible that there is nobody else out there who could "keep the club going". I don't know why people fall for it. Of course there are. There have been numerous approaches over the years but he knows that if the fanbase at large never hears about them, then he can dupe us all into believing that he's our knight in shining armour and that the club would die without him. That way he can continue to use us as a vehicle for his property dreams without serious challenge, and get away with mismangaing and underfunding it. Utter, utter bull****.

this !

We dont have one, do we? Amy's not been replaced.
We did have a physio of sorts, but towards the end of the season for reasons I won’t disclose, he was unable to carry out his match day role, so we had a very experienced replacement put in place on a temporary basis. But I doubt he is affordable or interested to be honest.

Other than that though, he is regular sort of guy. Kind to animals, cleaning ladies etc.

I was amazed at the Chesterfield home game - hopefully mine and our club’s lowest footballing ebb - how so many of the fans I spoke to in the west before the game, during the pitch protest, throughout the game and afterwards who were defending RM or refusing to say a single bad thing about his management of the club. Staggered me to be honest.

I just don't get it !

Late additional item added to agenda for sponsors meeting on Wednesday relates to Budget Setting . It appears that poor budget setting is being blamed for current cash flow problems . We must hope that the new finance supremo can sort all this out . Will update everyone on what happens on Thursday .
Are you expecting to hear at the sponsors evening thsy the club are indeed back in a transfer embargo ? Do you push for stuff like that or is it the wrong forum

Re the physio - Smudger was covering the end of last season on a temporary basis but has now retired. Most L1 and L2 teams as well as NL clubs are struggling to get decent, qualified physios in - the private sector pays better than a lower league football club.

However, I was told today by a member of staff that a new physio with the necessary qualifications should be appointed by the end of the week.

I’m genuinely not sure why the demos stopped ? Back under a transfer M bar-go staff not been paid and somehow he walks away without a whisper

Fruity Softdrink not on the agenda but I could do with one right now . Part 1 =Late Pay ,Part 2 = Budget Setting .
