Met office have altered their forecast. The western boundary of the yellow snow alert (which was hovering over London on the map) has just been extended eastwards to cover us and they are now forecasting some heavy snow for us in the next few hours and into the night.

Throws tomorrow evening back into doubt, for me....

Just got in and it's a lot milder out there, +2 - positively balmy compared to recent evenings! There is a very light dusting of snow falling but I really hope that it's not heavy enough to cause any problems. Totally fed up with it all now.

Dont listen to them. ****ing useless they are. NO snow for us to worry about overnight. Cloud cover will help to stop the temps from going too low. You know what, we may scrape a game tomorrow night after all.

call for another 20-30 people to help with more snow , presume this is around the track round ground as was lots of piles still. i am off down there

What's the car park and surrounding pavements like? Have the council done their bit? Personally, i hope its off and they call it off as soon as possible. Rotherham is a long way to come from only to find its cancelled when they get here. Lets face it we've been there before ourselves. There should be a local ref down there this morning just as there was at Plymouth.

You may have noticed that the world hasn't shut down over the last week. People have been to work, done shopping, been to the pub , etc just as normal. Why should football be any different (assuming the pitch is okay). Your hope that it is off is poor gratitude to all the volunteers who have been working on the pitch.

If the pitch is not frozen, there is no point in calling in a local referee. If the pitch is not frozen now, the only way the Rotherham fans would find it's just been called off when they get here is a sudden (and as yet unpredicted) drop in temperature which no referee local or otherwise could second guess. You don't cancel entertainment for thousands on the off chance that a few dozen might have a wasted journey.

I agree with this to a point. To not have a pitch inspection by choice is very risky. IF the game now gets called off when the ref arrives at 6pm (?) then Ron will look a right tit. And those fans from Rotherham and our own will quite rightly be looking for blood. And our club will be looked at in a bad light once again. Let's hope for everyones sake it now goes ahead.

Current temperature is 0.7c. I feel this will rise to maybe 1.5c around 2pm. But by kick off, we will be back below freezing. So the ref will be making a decision at one of the coldest parts of the day...let's hope for a bit of sun.

He will be here much, much earlier than that. As I said before, if the pitch is not frozen now (and I presume someone has checked!) there is absolutely no point in calling in Fred Graham or Andy D'Urso or whoever is available.

Really?

So say he arrives early afternoon (the warmest part of the day) and the pitch just about looks playable. What happens when he goes out again for a check after the sun goes down and we are below freezing? By 7pm the pitch could well be unplayable again.

I can feel another Scunthorpe situation arising again.

Let's hope not.
