Its going to be about -5 Friday night. Can't see this going ahead. If it was Saturday 3pm I am sure it will be fine.

Met office still saying minus 1 to minus 2. If it really does drop to minus 5, I don't think the one degree forecast for Saturday would be enough to thaw that out, particularly as they'd inspect early Saturday morning.

Every game bar ours was postponed last week, having them on a saturday afternoon didnt help them.

BBC forecast for SS1 Friday

maximum 1 degree during the day
Zero from 6 til 3 the next morning when it will be -1

There is a nastly little breeze though which will make it feel very cold

So how are conditions back home? What do we think the chances of the game being on are?

It's all a bit chilly but ice has been melting all day. Snow tonight and tomorrow. But it's 2 degrees in the day. If they clear the snow today, put the covers back on and get the heaters going on Friday it will be on, no reason it can't be, it isn't frozen apparently. And tomorrow I'm ready with my spade if they need to remove more snow that falls tonight.

Weather says -1 tonight and -4 tomorrow night about midnight.
GET THE GAME ON!

(Watch out smiffy)

Poxy BBC Look East weather last night said -5 for Friday night. If its -1 then there wont be any issue at all.

Lunchtime today they said a low of minus 8 tomorrow night. As Mick points out that's probably in rural Naarfalk but it is still mighty cold and the wind chill off the East Coast may take it lower.

I hope for three things
  1. Our Chairman brings his hairdryer and spends the best part of the day arranging his barnet on the pitch:unsure:
  2. Our Chairman gives one of his pre-match pep talks on the pitch - tells all how soon the contractors will start etc - more hot air :Red card:
  3. Moshni prepares a very spicy Couscous before the game and breathes fire on the pitch (and opposition):flamer:

Snow is melting at the mo in rural Naarfalk but as mentioned on here the snow is due to return tomorrow with a vengeance.
GYS Jnr is due to go to Swansea on Saturday but we may have to call it off.

all pitch now cleared, covers left on with heaters. RM said no need for inspection at 8, will just wait for ref to turn up. Ground was soft under covers. looks good for tomo.

My mate (who was there volunteering yesterday and today) says that the pitch looks fine, but they're worried about the pitch-side track area may be deemed dangerous.

Has he also sorted the sheet ice in the streets round the ground ?

No inspection tomorrow?!

Hmmm. Wouldn't want to be Rotherham fan travelling down.

Very brave call from Ronald.
