My initial first thought on signing Bim, was a bit of wonder, as his stats weren't great.
After seeing him play the first couple of times, I thought he showed great pace and strength, wasn't sure about finishing and needed to work a lot on his first touch as his second was often a tackle.
Now, games later into the season, he has undoubtedly been a success in his time here so far.
His goals return is above average, his pace and strength is an asset, but he still needs to work on his first touch.
Whether he stays or not for the rest of the season, as many have said already, is down to Luton.
Certainly the gap seems to be smaller between NL and L2, IF you have the right personnel. Could Bim cope in the league above probably, but he would need time to establish himself, as he did here. If he hasn't after 4/5 games would he keep a starting spot? If he didn't and spent time on the bench, then Luton's haste to find out could backfire on them. What would that scenario have on his confidence?
I have watched a significant amount of L1 games this season, varying teams and the one thing that strikes as a difference between NL, L2 and there is pace. I don't think Bim is ready for that level yet, let alone Championship, but he could be in time.
If I was scouting for Luton, and obviously I am not, my recommendation would be leave him here for the rest of the season. He is obviously benefitting from the coaching here, which hopefully they saw on Thursday. Let his confidence grow, then start him off in L2 next summer and make a decision if he has improved enough for L1 this time next year. I'd keep tabs on him though from our POV. As if he became available, whether we were at a level to interest Luton in another loan, or it was a permanent and there was a deal to be made, who knows.
What will be will be, but Bim, for me goes down as a great spot and successful piece of business from a club POV from my perspective great to see in a blue shirt for however long he stays with us.
I hope he stays, as I think him and Kendall could scare the life out of more than a few teams at this level.
