Keep Bilel in my opinion. Not a believer in the "I don't know where he plays approach". That is down to the management and coaching staff. He clearly has the potential so if that is a valid argument then lets train him up to play in a certain position.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY hope to seal the signing of Portsmouth midfielder David Norris, 31, and Southend centre-back Bilel Mohsni, 24, in the next 48 hours.

We shall see!

Where would you play him then and who would you leave out for him ?

For me, his best position is on the bench ........... and coming on with 20+ minutes to go.

If we don't quite know what to expect of him, then imagine what it must be like for the opposition .......... and the fact that he is madder than a bucket of frogs drinking rum is just the ticket for me.

Come on Moshni - get your boots on and get back to training ...........

He can certainly make that sort of impact, but if someone offered £300k for him is it worth keeping him just for that ? That sort of money could pay the salaries of 3 players for the year.

Assuming the Mohsni to Sheff Weds rumour is true, if selling a player to a club two divisions higher is a sad indictment, then most clubs in leagues one and two are sadly indicted

Did you read the whole post/thread or just one word.

It was suggested that he couldn't be fitted into the team despite recognition that he was a "great and versatile player". I simply replied that if that was so it was a sad indictment of the club.

£300,000 - not nearly enough. £500,000 and I'd start to think about it ..........

Mohsni should have been moulded into the dominating CB he is meant to be. Yes he had e few good games in other positions but overall i always thought he looked like a footballing CB playing out of position (not his fault) I love the fella and will never forget his crazy time at the hall, not a legend as such but certainly a player who will be remembered for years to come

He has had far more impact this season when not playing as centre half.

Chris definitely isn't on holiday, btw. Not unless he's holidaying in Southend whilst writing stories for the Echo.

If we get £500k for Moshni then its a great deal for us and the player. Cant grumble. Even feel £300k would be fair really in the current climate.

Good move for him too.

I did read all your post and as the thread is about Mohsni's alleged transfer to Sheff Wed I presumed you were commenting on that. Not really sure where you had got the idea he may be transferred due to a lack of recognition of his versatility.

You always come across as very bitter about all things Southend United but I don't understand the need to try to dig up negative stats on someone we haven't signed (yet?) (Phil Smith) or calling a sale of a player that hasn't taken place (yet?) a sad indictment

To be fair to Mick I do see his point. It's not an indictment on the club though - plenty of bigger clubs than us have had similar issues with utility players and not really knowing what to do with them.

Mohsni is a footballing enigma. Personally I think he's best as a striker. Others think he's best at the back. I think Sturrock plays him on the wing because he wants to get him in the side but thinks he'll cost us a goal at the back or get sent off upfront.

Personally really enjoy watching mohsni , but if loosing him for 500k means the club have a season to remember both off and on the field then i will wish him all the best.

Swindon losing more games in the 8 games he played than they did in the 38 that he didn't is a pretty powerful stat and worthy of note.

And you stil have clearly missed my point re Mohsni.

The sale was not the issue. Someone said he was "great" and "versatile" but didn't fit in with the squad; my point was that if a great and versatile player can't be fitted into the squad that is sad.

The "sale" is another matter and every player has his price.

Im not sure he played enough games at CB to really judge, certainly not a string of games. He is brilliant in the air, certainly no slouch in the pace department, brave, determined and can play football, if he just had a position to really build on, im not convinced he should be a wide(ish) player a CF maybe, he scored some vital goals indeed.

He didnt play many at CB for the sole reason he can make an impact in an attacking role more than a defensive one.

Mohsni makes an impact because he terrorises opposition defences, wins balls in the air etc. If he played at the back he would have far less influence on games than he does in midfield/upfront.

Add to that he cant be relied on at the back and its a no brainer.

Look at the squad as it is, if you had Mohsni on the bench you could bring him on to change a game, and we have seen him do it better than any other player last year apart from Ryan Hall. Can he change a game in defence ? Can he defend better than Phillips or Cresswell, very much doubt it.

He can certainly play as a centre half and Im sure do a decent job, but if he played there he would not have half the plaudits he does after playing elsewhere.

The thing that stuck out from your comment mick was that it was a criticism of the club. I really dont think it is. Mohsni even after two seasons still doesnt have a preferred position. Thats not his fault, nor the clubs fault and as Beefy said earlier versatile players very often struggle to be first choice team players because they are generally not better than a specialist.

Mohsni is a good player and one of the few players who was entertaining to watch last year but even now its hard to say how he will be used next season, although the Echo story suggests he will still be here.

Sell him no player should dictate when and where he
plays is going to be tired come ramadam again??
will he want to go back to his home country of tunisia
when the going gets tough again.
Will not be missed
