I think Bilel is almost too settled here. He knows that no matter what he does the fans here are always going to sing his name, ask him for autographs and pictures.

But if he were to go to Sheffield Wednesday and not be that big fish in the small pond, who knows, you might see a more determined and focused footballer.

I never thought I'd see the day.

I don't know - I think it's just that there is a tendency to see the worst coupled with a belief that evil will triumph over good mingled with a philosophy of predicting the least desirable outcome.

Pessimistic - that's the correct spelling, isn't it? :winking:

Beefy is commenting on OBD being pessimistic, he is the most optimistic person on here

When I was in Australia this time last year the Saudi club Al-Ain had their preseason camp in Perth due to Ramadan. It falls in the Australian winter so the days are short meaning Muslims can eat at about 5pm but the weather is still ok. If Bilel is still about next season I suggest we have our preseason tour in Oz and play Perth Glory and a couple of teams from the State League including Armadale as they have a load of ex pats from Essex supporting them.

Would suit me as I am
Moving to Perth in 3 months

keep him and train him to play where kalala did last season. play him in a defensive midfield role, just in front of the defence. Surely it would be his best position??

Lacks the discipline to play there. A key part of that role is being willing to just sit behind the ball and wait, Bill's never showed this kind of temperament, even when he played centre back!

Great place to live! When you miss the lack of football on a saturday, and you will, go down to Armadale SC the state league is good to watch and you'll be welcomed with open arms when you tell them in the bar you are from Essex.

I would like to keep him , apart from his value to the team, from a selfish viewpoint he puts a smile on my face and in an ideal world I prefer to be entertained when I am watching , hoping to see that few seconds of magic that makes it all worth while

If we are going to play him as center back then surely we can replace him quite cheaply ?
If we are going to have him on teh bench then can we really afford to have a £300,000 asset on the bench ?
Whilst he stays in league 2 is his value ever going to go up massively? Maybe at the moment clubs would prefer him as he is so that they can mould him, onto the position tehy feel is best for him ?
Every year we keep him we are potentially further away from the 'add ons' that we all hop will be in the contract (assuming he goes on to do big things of course)

In a perfect world he has a great season , we go up , he is brillant again, we go up and he is now worth £1 million plus, but thats quite a big gamble to take.

I saw this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2160307/Britains-Muslim-Olympic-rower-solves-Ramadan-fasting-dilemma-Games-paying-meals-1-800-people-instead.html
I know it's not for everyone depending on their levels of observance. The other thing to keep in mind is that Ramadan runs from sunset 19th July - 18th August. Which impacts pre-season, league cup and the first league game. Not like last year with it falling in the busy 1st month of the season

I didn't know ramadan moved about, isn't that a bit like deciding to have Christmas in May next year

It moves about so Bilel can play his football. It ends on 7 August next year, and then it'll be all in close season until 2019. But in 2020 I think it clashes with the Cup Final.
