That. I disagree. Getting promoted is worth far more than the figures you are quoting .......... and if you have a player that can make a difference in games and turn a loss into a draw and a draw into a win, then "we'd be crazy" to accept such a small amount of money.

What he said...... You're spot on my friend..

So it appears according the Echo today that Mohsni IS sanctioned to be away from the club - apparently at a families wedding.

Why is Chris Phillips saying on Twitter that he doesnt have permission - I even asked him outright if he had the clubs permission and he replied in typical CP style "WHY WOULD HE NOT HAVE THE CLUBS PERMISSION TO BE THERE!?!?!!?"

Seems like he (CP) loves to undermine the club whenever he can for some reason.

Anyways, hopefully this is the case about Mohsni and he does indeed have PS consent to be away. Though I'd also imagine that PS cant be THAT happy about Mohsni being behind already.

...and he may lack further behind as Ramadan starts on 20th July.

I read that as though Chris is saying "Of course he has permission, why wouldn't he?"

Think you have misread CP's message as FBM says?

CP for me is not out to undermine the club, he puts a lot of stories out and the club get a lot of coverage through him. If there are positive stories he puts them out, if there are negative ones he does them too. Thats the way its should be and if it wasnt for some of the negative stories the financial issues wouldnt have been revealed as they were.

The exact text from Chris' tweet is;

"why would he have the club's permission not to be there?!"

Which I take as he DOESNT (or didnt) have the clubs permission to be there?

The answer to Chris' text above would be better something like;

"Mohsni is at a family wedding and has permission to be away" ?

Dunno.... am I reading it wrong or is it open to interpretation?

Hmmn that does sound more like he is asking why he would have permission to be absent.

However that in itself is not undermining anything, if CP wasnt aware of the wedding or whatever the reason is then its a reasonable question.

Chris is on holiday for goodness sake, leave the poor man alone!

Nobody is forcing him to be on Twitter Kay? If he is posting messages, then you assume he is happy to receive them?

Some people like to go on holiday and get away from the phone/emails and switch the thing off!

You're particularly defensive of him though. Think he puts himself out there as a professional, so is fair game for criticism?

A strange time to pick a holiday. why not a few weeks earlier when the club were all on holiday too.

Im not sure its reasonable to expect CP to arrange his holidays to coincide with Paul Sturrock.

Is he actually on holiday anyway? He isvery active on twitter so if he is on hols he is certainly keeping his finger on the pulse.

Yea my point is, if Chris didnt know, then why say anything? Why not just say - "I dont know" - rather than the rather stoic reply.

With his position within the media, you half guess he has more info than the rest of us, so anything he says you can assume has an element of truth to it - more than your usual fan chit-chat.

Jeez you could pick from a hundred different reasons why someone couldn't go on holiday a few weeks earlier. Maybe his missus couldn't get the time off work, maybe they got a good deal going a few weeks later. I'm sure he'd always aim to ensure he didn't miss a big story by being away but surely someone is covering for him.

Think CP gets a real hard time on here for just doing his job. Give the guy a break.

To be fair, I like Chris. But pitting Chris against Ron is like pitting Charlie Brown against Mephistopheles

I mentioned this the other week, but what is his job? Reporting news and fact? Fine.

Posting glib comments with no knowledge (such as the Mohsni thing) where 'fans' may assume what you are saying it more than likely true? Dunno... just find that a bit odd.

Him going on twitter (which you don't have to read if you don't want to I suppose) is basically an advertising thing isn't it, to get people to like him and read his articles so he keeps his job? Chris Phillips is good at his job AND whilst he has to report things going on at the club which may not always be positive he is a big fan. If he didn't add little snippets on info or opinions then we'd probably be moaning that he didn't give any input.

As far as I know, he's on hols in the UK but still having to provide stories for the Echo. I don't think you can screen your Twitter to stop people asking stuff about Southend, and as he wants to stay in touch with friends, colleagues and sources for copy, he has to put up with it, even if that does mean he's getting nagged all the time about Mohsni etc from Southend supporters!
