Whilst I'm sure the majority of Southend fans behaved well there's always going to be a few that acted out of order. Saying this, those wooden seats were not adequate enough to seat people. Not condoning it if some people did deliberately rip seats up but why hasn't that section got modern seats?

My seat kept getting stuck but from the looks of some of the seats it wouldn't take much for them to break.

No-one was sitting on the bloody seats!

The overreaction on this website is classic

The over-reaction is that people are agreeing that there was damage done. Perhaps I will come and smash some of your furniture up at your house and then when the police come knocking I'll just say you are over-reacting.

The fact is seats were smashed. Southend fans were there, they did the damage, they will damage the reputation of our club.

Let's say it was at Roots hall last night, Orient fans smashed our seats and because we have to pay for replacements, we can't get a loan player in to cover Timlin. We then miss out on promotion/Wembley. You will all be crying and moaning on here, slagging off RM that he didn't get the players in to secure promotion. Over-reaction?

I am still waiting for someone to confirm they saw with their own eyes, our fans deliberately ripping up the seats, like the "hooligans" they are...

So 62 seats got damaged out of the 1,775 we occupied. Unfortunate, but is it really worth this hyperbole?

For the record I was not in attendance. So perhaps should not be commenting on the matter. But from what I have seen on various social media platforms, it was a case of OTT celebrations, tinged with a little bit of "sillyness" by standing on seats, which clearly are not meant for that.

I take it nobody has seen the amount of damaged seats in the North bank over the last few seasons, courtesy of the away fans?....Bet they weren't bitching about it on their forums like on here.

If proof is shown that our fans were deliberately ripping up these seats. Then I agree that is way out of line. Until then, surely we have better things to be discussing?......Like I don't know, a classic smash and grab victory last night on the pitch?

Should any have got damaged? Are you justifying it because it was only 62? Laughable

When we scored a lad of about ten standing on the seat in front of me managed to break his seat off by mistake by knocking it when celebrating . Looking at the photo clearly that was not the case but I dont think the seats were very well fitted. My first seat back broke off just by me sitting on it.

actually think we will take more than you took last night, personally. From what i remember youve never had great away support. Heard there were a lot of hammers in there last night and 1600 isnt that many really.

I can only assume you are on the wind up with this.

Why would any West Ham fans come in our end? Why would they support us over you> And how would you know about it anyway?

As for away support I can think of numerous times we have filled our allocations and had to have over spill on your old terraced open up moving your fans along. Would be good to see a stat on this as I cannot for a second believe you have had brought more to us over time that we have you. I have seen some pathetiic turn outs from Orient over the years.

Didn't a seat at the wonderful new Weston Homes Community Stadium get broken and taken as a "trophy" on our first visit there? :whistling:

Not for one minute done intentionally, but seats can, and do, get broken.....anyone walked through South Lower recently? And I doubt that's down to over celebration in that area!

If people have deliberately done this damage (and I'm not sure there's any REAL evidence to substantiate that) then I think it's right for us to make some apology for their behaviour however, with such old seating it's not really a surprise.

Again, if we've attracted a nasty little element of support, then it's a shame that the behaviour of a few mindless morons will tarnish the reputation that Southend's away support has built up over recent years. The days of the likes of Oldham, Doncaster and Southampton's home supporters applauding us may be long over as a result.

if he was on a wind up,he definately hooked you!To be be fair i would have taken the bait,it's amazing once that west ham word is mentioned we all lose the plot!

Where have I said the word Justified?

I used the actual numbers as some are making it sound like the whole stand was trashed. Of course no seats should be damaged. But it happens. Especially with crap seats like in that stand. People should not have been standing on them. But obviously they were and that resulted in some seat casualties.

I said it was unfortunate and if it was deliberate which does not appear to be the case, then that is out of order.

Laughable is this reaction to what appears OTT celebrations, which unfortunately resulted in some seats being damaged. But not in a deliberate manner.

Get over it.

Just makes me laugh when people say that. Like in this day and age loads of people have money to come and watch another side for fun? How manyof the 1600 we took are meant to be West Ham? How does the poster know? Did he go a census before hand?

I didn't think we came over in the best way last night. Outside the ground I saw a ground of youths throwing a can of beer on the floor... Not the worlds biggest crime, but very pointless.
Then in the stadium, loads of people standing on the chairs, but not kicking them... Didn't see much other stuff happen in the ground.
The Tube Station was pretty terrible. Fans giving it to each other, and the fact a 9 year old Orient fan nearly got pushed on the tracks and she was saved by her Dad holding her!
Was ashamed to be a Southend fan outside the stadium, but proud of what happened on the pitch and in the ground.

I in no way condone vandalism , and im not suggesting there was any vandalism, seats may have been broken accidently whilst celebrating, i dont know .But what i can add better seats damaged than heads as it used to be back in the late 60s and early 70s.Then people boasted "THE TOUGHEST SPORT IN THE WORLD ,WAS FOOTBALL HOOLIGANISM". Seats can be repaired or replaced my friends , in most cases heads cant be repaired and certainly not replaced.Enjoy your football and riavalries it brings, but above all Love the club you support .Have banter with opposition supporters ,its normal and a way to release the tensions of everday living.but always make it freindly and like the teams ,enjoy a beer together after .

No it really wasn't. Tube was empty when I got there straight from ground. No sign of any trouble at all. Nor did I see anything on way or on way back.

Nipped in bud me thinks...... And for what it's worth love me or hate me I.d quite happily break a seat and stick it round your head, having said that I would probably just sit on it ( your head)

I sit in the east greens for an unrestricted view for a reason fella, don't want to view the match through your cheeks

No one messes about when you are around Naps, they wait till you are gone, then it goes mental.

If the worst thing that happened in a high tension local derby, was a few chairs getting snapped during goal celebrations. The Police will be very pleased. Even the seats up the back that were still in place were absolutely f*****
