Will you renew

Found the following stats from a 442 poll showing the costs of season tickets. Im sure ours wasnt £340 but gives a good idea of where our prices this season stood.

Although the increase is big the claims on here that we will be the most expensive club in league two do not bear out. Some clubs however do have terracing where cheaper tickets can be purchased.

76. Colchester - £357
77. Stevenage - £345
#78. Rotherham - £342
#78. Yeovil - £342
80. Southend - £340
81. Lincoln - £335
82. Leyton O - £325
83. Bury - £320
84. Burton - £311
#85. Stockport - £299
#85. Swindon - £299
87. Wigan - £295
88. Port Vale - £289
89. Crewe - £285
90. Hereford - £270
91. Bradford - £250
Compared with some of those other clubs I think we offer pretty good value and let's not forget what excuse for a stand Gillingham charge opposition supporters such an exorbitant price to use! I will be renewing, as fbm says, I like where I sit and I like the security of a guaranteed ticket in the event of propsective cup games. I don't care what the Ron haters consider me to be, as I have year in, year out, I will continue to support my team in the way I see fit, just as everyone else has a choice to do.

the sad thing is that with 6 weeks of the current season left, they clearly need next season's money already.
This time last season they had already received quite a decent amount of season ticket money through the World Cup promotion and I believe Season Cards were already on sale before this too, so I don't agree with your comment at all, it's an annual exercise being undertaken at a sensible time and at a similar time to probably a high percentage of other clubs too.

Should be hearing Friday if I have a job so will leave my decision for a little while, increase or not.
Sad to hear that Ken, hope all works out for you.

And finally, on the direct debit debacle, I would hope that that particular loop hole has been well and truly plugged!

Old blue rinse can still see no wrong in Ron, bit like McCormack really when he was here!

With respect, all this shows is that we were borrowing from the future last season also.

Hello Homer

Cheapest season ticket for an adult is £357.00 in the South stand, I think currently the total stands at around 1700 which is less than half what it was during our Championship seasons, the WHCS is not a popular stadium for many reasons.

It isn't just the price of the ticket, as compared to others it isn't that bad. I think its the increase from £300 (they were probably too cheap this year), and more importantly its the lies, spin, and complete lack of investment in the team over the last 2 years.

The trust has been completly eroded over that time, we got relegated with a top 10 league one team due to lack of paying wages etc. and this year with a tiny and I mean tiny bit of investiment in the team at the right time, we could of made a good challenge for the play offs.

That's 2 seasons totally effected by the investment in the squad being a tiny proportion of the clubs income.

If we could be guranteed, the level of investment in the squad comparable to the size of the club, not be let down mid season with court appearance, late wages, HMRC winding up orders, then £350 isn't that bad, and I would probably pay it.

As it is, then they can get stuffed.

thanks for that info the way we are going we may be less than that and im sure you will be best supported club which ever divisions the respected clubs are

...go away Jamie you naive youngster. When your voice breaks you will learn what principles are rather than shouting from the rooftops that dad has gifted you 400 quid to keep Rons dream on track!
Result if his dad gives him £400 for a season ticket because young adult season ticket is only £210.

Just noticed the pay monthly scheme is subject to a credit scoring check, is that the first time we have ever had that?

What about drop the prices

with the backlash being reported on BBC Essex tonight from fans complaining and will not be renewing next season the club may have to rethink this increase but i doubt it , the ******** reply i got from RM today spouting on that he will have to put a further one million of (sainsburys) opps sorry his money this coming from a guy hanging on by the fingernails

what are the options who is out there willing to take this club away from him ......................... No ****ing Body at this present time

This whole thing saddens me.

There are so many reasons why not to renew, and despite what I said in a post earlier on this thread my gut is churning at the thought of not renewing after all these years and I really do want to renew - despite the financial issues I would find the money from somewhere if it came down to it.

But I just can't get over the fact that after a sustained period of utter boll ocks from Unc Ron and with the 99% prospect of much worse to come I just cannot justify renewing either ruled by heart or head. We are not unused to behind the scenes mistrust at Roots - but Ron takes the pi ss, drinks it and asks for more.

Further, and this is the really sad part, there is just no way that a 10% hike makes any financial sense whatsoever. Never, and how the Shrimpers Trust thought that any such uninventive approach would lead to anything else but more financial ruin is beyond belief. It is like we are on a downward spiral that won't stop, less ST sales means less income means poorer players means lower league position means lower income means ,,,,,,,,,,, It would not take a genius to stop this self perpetuating destructive spiral - just reach out Ron, confess, stop the rot, take actions that show the supporters you care (and who without you face financial ruin), and from there watch the Club take-off on a renewed wave of optimism that is just waiting to burst out if only you had the sense to see it.

Like a player who fails to put effort in for a game they only have to play once or twice a week I fail to see why the SUFC powers that be, with only SUFC to focus on, cannot see common sense. What world are they living in? All the bankers support London premiershite - I suspect the number of SUFC fans who have seen a 10% increase in earnings over the last year is negligible, instead I suspect that most like me have seen a take home pay drop in real if not in hard cash terms over a sustained longer two/three year period. BBC's Panorama programme can be a bit sensationalist at times, but what it spouted out last night was real, I work with all sorts of companies from all sorts of areas, and if anything the economic financial downturn is greater than what they portrayed. Has someone taken away all access to media so that they all think they are living in the relative boom times of 2006? Unreal.

My decision not to renew is not one which shows dis-loyalty, it is a gut-wrenching decision that I and many others have been left with little other option but to make. We will still support the Club come what may and go when we can, but staying away without the pull of the ST taking us there out of habit if nothing else in such times means that it is more difficult to go when there are other family commitments and you no longer have the ST card to play.

God this is awful. Ron, Tara, you are complete clueless XXXXXXX.

UTB, always

15 pages of moaning on shrimperzone and yet no one wants to let Ron know their problem. Some would rather give up watching their football club than do something about it. That is entirely their choice of course.

Whilst i can afford the price increase it pains me to see many fans unhappy about this. I suggest a petition or protest against the clown owners decisions. Maybe a statement making certain demands from fans sent to Ron or XXXX ammount will not renew season tickets.

I have made my feelings clear to Mr Martin in person when i wasnt happy after being told a few things by him which didnt happen but one voice does not make much difference to him. Thousands would!!!

just because you are giving up supporting SUFC dont attack someone so young its his choice probaly his parents are funding him but gives you the right to tell him how to spend his money

most of the posts on here are full of emotion which is totally understandable. A couple of facts/opinions to throw into the debate.
As I recall last year when we were mid table the club announced prices would go up 10% if we went up, and would go down 10% if we were relegated. I don't recall posts saying this was ridiculous , 10% for going down was not enough.

I also don't recall anyone moaning when the 10% decrease became a 20% drop- this seems to have been totally forgotten, and is IMO very important to this thead.

Its not the clubs fault VAT has gone up by 2.5%

Some people think that cheaper prices would result in more tickets. Im not so sure. The club is selling tickets for £3.00 for an adullt and child (yes £3.00). Has it made a massive change to attendences , I don't think so . The club has these figures and wil know how sucessfull this has been /has not been. So based on this what else should the club do ?

The press release on the website is awful, I don't think anyone can defend it- its patronising and there is no better weay to alliernate your customers than to patronise them (again) . If it was more honest and spoke to the supporters hearts how many people might have a different view on the matter?
