Ron Martin from Badger 74

I will support my team thank you, not Ron, but my team SUFC, the 11 players on the pitch. Yes, they may play badly sometimes, but they are my team.

We need the new stadium, Ron knows we need the new stadium, and if most of the supporters on here were honest, they would admit that too. Ron has his shortcomings, as we all do, but he had no crystal ball that would have help him foresee the banks u-turn on lending. That's not Ron's fault. You all bang on about Ron needing to go etc etc and he has done this and that, but how many of you actually have any cold hard facts about any of this....That's right, none of you, it's all speculation!

You are going to have to elaborate on that if you are looking for any proof.....you cannot ask for cold hard facts when you have not told us what you are talking about.

There have been lots of things on here that people have said Ron has supposed to have done. I can't pinpoint any of them, cos they hold no importance to me. Personally, I'm not really interested in anything anyone says on here unless they have facts to back it up.

I will give you fact " I hate Ron Martin"

you are a lost cause I'm afraid - the facts are he has run the club into a disastrous financial position, had his beady eyes on a lucrative property deal on the Hall since the day he bought it (and not owned the club) to subsidise his already lavish lifestyle, sacked a manager who I would suggest had the backing of the majority of fans, been rude and arrogant to supporters, tried to portray barratt and mccormack as greedy and not that good anyway, never listened to any demands unless they suit him, and arrogantly paraded around the pitch riding on the back of players success when times are good - let's see if he tries that little stunt any time soon?

there are the facts, you cannot dispute any of these without nit picking nonsense...

now answer this. If no-one turned up for 3 consecutive home games what would happen to Ron? If all 4,800 ppl continue to go, what will happen to Ron. The latter inextricably props him up, the former leaves him one option....

At the end of the day i love southend united with passion and it pains me to see the way the great reputation and fan base that has built over the last few years is collapsing all around us and what pains me even more is that one man is completely to blame.

The contempt i feel for Ron martin at the moment is huge and i honestly feel we had left those cold dark days of low support and league 2 football firmly behind.

We were the envy of most league 1 and 2 clubs and im sure a few in the championship. Great manager thriving and growing support with family club awards and a future proof stadium.

What have we to look foward to now?

Exactly! Sums up what probably, thousands of blues fans feel right now.

So stopping the payment of our players and management didnt matter then? Promise of new stadium have not materialised yet. The fact is no building work has started on it.

This club will never go forward under the current owners

This is the important point though.....what WOULD happen if this were done? Not in vague ideas of dreams but in actual fact what is likely to happen? Bear in mind I am with you in being willing to accept one step back for two steps forward and a secure Southend future.....but if a boycott of games was going to be productive in the long term, why are the Trust (or the consortium to a lesser extent) not suggesting it? Unfortunately I don't think it is SUFC who are propping Ron up, rather the other way round (albeit through money that is not his own).

If what he's done to the club in the last 9 months constitutes "propping up", you have a different understanding of the meaning of that phrase to the one I have. The club has been decimated.

Perhaps we do then. Though that comment was only a side comment from the main point of my post.

prop up: sustain or support

decimate: inflict great destruction or damage on

You pays your money and takes your choice.

PS the word decimate comes from the old Roman army tradition of punishment by killing every tenth person to deal with mutinous legions. Performances like Saturday, perhaps we should try it with the players!

A boycott of games is already taking place but on an individual basis rather than a group decision.

Our average crowd is down 33% o.k. we have only played 2 games but even reduced price family tickets for the Torquay game is unlikely to help out much. Mind you they could make it free for one match to get in and we still would not sell out.

At the moment we are only the 69th best supported club in the country. It's going to take a very long time to get anywhere near an 8,000 average crowd again. Maybe we will get a higher average if we ever move to our new ground but all predictions of the sort of crowds we would maybe get at the new ground can be reduced by quite a few thousand.

To be honest I thought our average crowd this season would be near the 6,000 mark, but it looks like it will be nearer the 5,250 mark. Even if we start doing well I can't see crowds going much over 5,500. Not bad for this level maybe, but well down on the past few years.

A lot of people i know who have stopped coming will not be back until Ron is out (these are fans who watched us regularly last time we were in the basement division). I wish i had that attitude sometimes but i love going to football.

However, if there was an arranged group boycott i would gladly participate.

In my opinion this should of happened towards the end of last season when the players were not paid.
