Ron Martin from Badger 74

This is the bit i'm highly sceptical about.

I think many people share that view gbj.

But we don't have a choice.

We are like a seriously ill patient that's only chance of survival is complicated and delicate surgery that may or may not work. Without it, we're stuffed and we'll die.

Alternatives (the Consortium, the boycott) are forever being researched and looked for but time is against us. We've just had an injection of steroids (the Sainsburys dosh) that has strengthened us for about a year, maybe a bit longer. The complete blood transfusion (new squad) will enable us to get through that period although we may deteriorate to a poorer, albeit not fatal condition (the Conference). We may even make a miraculous short term recovery and get a bit stronger (League 1).

However, at some point the surgery will be needed, Ron is the surgeon and let's all just hope he doesn't go out on the lash the night before the operation.

Nice way to put it.

The scary/unnerving thought is that Ron is the surgeon, but is not a very good one. The medical committee has regularly scrutinised his operating methods, and have even said he is incompetent. On more than one occasion now, he has not been able to complete an operation and had to have help from others to finish it.
Now our future is resting in his hands? Would YOU let him operate on you?

The sad fact is, he will because he's the only game in town :(

Whilst I accept there may be no alternative to Martin, to use your medical analogy I believe that his continued ownership can only lead to a visit to that Swiss euthanasia clinic.

If he is the surgeon I hope I'm not in for a vasectomy because with his track record, one slip with the scalpel and I could be Mrs Mcnasty.

I hate the man, and without a shadow of doubt of I see him at a services after an away game or anywhere like that Im gonna seerve the ****, a light sentence will be more than worth it

A surgeon who rips the heart out of the club, and slags it off in the press.

What a great surgeon... who needs the cancer that SUFC are suffering from?

This is NOT the club I've known, cherished, agonised over, pulled sickies for, missed appointments for over the last 38 years. It has no soul and seemingly very little future. I feel numb and have no affinity with the players that started yesterday, the current management team and Ron Martin.

It will take much more than that for me to stop going to Roots Hall but to those saying we couldn't survive without moving grounds, bollocks. We've been there 20 years ago, survived and thrived.

Biggest load of crap i've ever seen posted here.

RM is like a cancer as another poster said.

I feel the same way, but after 31 years I just cannot bring myself to go anymore and i'm sure i'm not alone. I applaud you for still attending but you may feel differently in a months time if this continues.

RM was quoted in one of the Echo features that we could survive at Roots Hall being a League 1 or 2 club and break even, I would be happy with that but the problem is that too many people have ideas above our station and class us as a Championship team, oh yes and one man dreams of a big profit !!

I loved the "dream" of a new dawn and stadium......would I prefer now to stay where we are with league 1/2 football ..for sure.

Unfortunately Ron futures is still with us whether anyone likes it or not.If FF goes under he goes under too. Thats why he hasn,t jumped ship and is fighting to the wire to carry it off.We need FF to take us forward instead of the reverse gear were stuck in at the moment!.As supporters we are at one of the lowest points in the clubs history, and up to now the support has been incredible trying to motivate the team through every downward disaster of the last couple of seasons. However I believe that we are now at the turning point and the support has had enough of being lied to and watching poor displays nearly every week.We need PS to work his magic asap with no new major disasters to stop him.Off the pitch we need the start of FF to provide us with the hope of a brighter future. Can,t see Ron staying once the club has moved ,due to damage thats been done to his reputation which I think he knows has gone to far to be mended now.

I agree RM's persona is at an all time low for obvious reasons..I think the site of the new stadium starting to take shape would stem a lot of the abuse he gets..(I am no fan of him)..but it would be start..I see in the press that the back of the area near the south bank of old factories is being knocked down to start on the flats. The new ground has to start to be sorted soon.

I am a supporter who has experienced and suffered (at times) 52 years of my beloved team as I have said on here several times before. I have seen the awful times, the great times, cried and laughed many times with our team but I feel the end is nigh. nothing lasts for ever and I just think we have travelled our course. Sure, we have a terrible chairman in RM, that is certain. He has served only to ruin this club, but I think we must accept the fact that we are approaching end of life. I will, for one, only have fantastic memories of the club, visiting many grounds, 62 to be precise, rushing from work many times, fighting my way in through crowds in the good times but it must end one day. I would rather have my great memories of our beloved team that see it in terminal decline as it is. Let us allow it to expire, gracefully and without pity. It has been a tremendous journey but let it end. SUFC we love you and will never forget you.

Ron Martin may not always be the 'only game in town'. As we know, there is a consortium who have shown interest, they will not of course show their hand 100% and may be waiting for an event such as administration to take place. At least they are there though. If we did go into administration there is a very good chance that someone will take over especially if they see planning permission in place for a new stadium. How do we know that nobody else out there is interested? Another scenario is that Martin will finally run out of money/credit and be forced either to sell out in full or partly. Anything could happen, the vast majority of clubs that go into administration or have financial difficulties are eventually bought out, why should we be different? There are so many possibilities, some good, some a nightmare, but to say it is Ron Martin or nobody is jumping the gun a bit.

I refer to the reply made by fbm. He is spot on. We cannot stay at Roots Hall and even if we could we would not be able to upgrade the stadium viably. Just look at some of the magnificent victorian hospitals that were once the mainstay of the NHS. In order to be viable the hospitals were demolished as it was cheaper to build new ones. Roots Hall is outdated and needs replacing. FF is the future and RM has stuck to the task despite everything. He has probably/possibly made mistakes but thats life at any level of business.
Did you go to Aldershot ? God if you think Root Hal needs replacing........
And don't use the 'well they only get 2,000 argument, because give it a couple of months of this dross..........

The consortium want the club for nothing or next to nothing and this isnt going to happen with Teffron at the club.

Both personally and in a business sense Ron needs fossetts farm and he needs to stay in control of the football club for that to happen. We realisticly need fossetts farm to survive long term or atleast if we have any ambitions above the bottom two divisions.

Its a deadlock plain and simple.

What happens next i havent got a clue, but one thing i know for sure is we need either someone to come in and offer decent money for the club and the rights to build the stadium or we need Ron to start building the stadium and then we can move foward and try and sell the club on once its complete.
