Ron Martin from Badger 74

His portfolio is gradually being eaten away by loans from Sainsburys

Possibly the Roots Hall site, but he still owns FF which in itself much be worth £20m+

What people need to realise is, this is Martin's big gamble. If it goes t*ts up, he'll be Ok, as he will still own the properties and can do something else with them. Whereas us fans will be without a club as SUFC goes down the crapper.

Wouldnt be so sure though graysblue jnr . I think Teffrons business have gone the way of the pear and now he kinda needs this whole development to dig him out a huge hole. Cash flow has been a problem for a long time and raising any credit is near impossible. I think he is in big trouble and unfortunately so are we.

Does he? last I heard was that the council still own boots and laces, and although it was offered to RM, he still has not come across with any dosh for it.

We need PS to work his magic asap with no new major disasters to stop him.

When's that going to happen then?

A few days away from here and it almost seems as if people are now finally starting to realise how RM has duped them yet again.

As I said 6 weeks ago, our name is worse than mud across English football and PS was probably the only person who would take us on. He definitely was not the answer as his collection of misfits and mercenaries seemingly have now started to prove...

Sorry Rich, but you are wrong about the manager's job, there's a whole lot of aspiring and unemployed managers out there who would give their eye teeth to manage a league club however parlous their situation. Why do think there were loads of applications for the Darlington job, despite them sinking like a stone. FWIW it's way to early to judge Sturrock and the players 3 league matches in. If you compare the start we had under Tilly in 2004/5 it's much the same as the one we've had. I'm not comparing the players like for like just the similarities in the starts.

My views about RM and the way he has mismanaged the clubs affairs remain unchanged, my anger at the treatment handed to Tilly remains unchanged, as does my pragmatism in the support of the team.

And that had absolutely nothing to do with losing yesterday. Honest.

If you're being genuine, then fair play.
If however you're being sarcastic, care to expand on that?
You've commented that, since your return, people appeared to have "woken up to the fact that RM has duped them again."

I think that this has a lot to do with the reaction to our performance yesterday because of how poor the new set of players were. Had we won, building on the Bristol performance and casting aside the Aldershot result, the general supporter would have a more laissez-faire attitude as what really matters, what is going on on the pitch, would be going some way to allay fears.

As it happens, poor performances accentuate the ill feeling.

Yep, that's how I thought you meant it.
Just wanted to check in case I got the wrong end of the stick...

As you can probably tell, it's the bit I've highlighted in bold that is one of my current gripes with regards to Southend United FC.

I am a supporter who has experienced and suffered (at times) 52 years of my beloved team as I have said on here several times before. I have seen the awful times, the great times, cried and laughed many times with our team but I feel the end is nigh. nothing lasts for ever and I just think we have travelled our course. Sure, we have a terrible chairman in RM, that is certain. He has served only to ruin this club, but I think we must accept the fact that we are approaching end of life. I will, for one, only have fantastic memories of the club, visiting many grounds, 62 to be precise, rushing from work many times, fighting my way in through crowds in the good times but it must end one day. I would rather have my great memories of our beloved team that see it in terminal decline as it is. Let us allow it to expire, gracefully and without pity. It has been a tremendous journey but let it end. SUFC we love you and will never forget you.

A little premature in your statement, but alas i fear it will come to be. Why has there been no recent official club statement regarding commencement of the construction of the FF development?. What the hell is the problem now?. For every week that goes by without an update (which to me seems like there are still mega problems to be sorted out before the builders get on site), then i and i'm sure many other fans doubts grow on a daily basis as to whether it will ever happen?.

Not one to defend the club lately but I think to be fair they've now just about got it right (other than the Tilson Sun story response).
They've given us what some could argue is too much information about things in recent years and when they haven't come to pass they've been castigated for it on here and elsewhere.

Why bother to say, it's still an ongoing process when there's no (or very little extra) news?

I hate the man, and without a shadow of doubt of I see him at a services after an away game or anywhere like that Im gonna seerve the ****, a light sentence will be more than worth it

That's just the kind of supporter we don't need at Southend United and confirms everything I have ever thought about you.

Am sure he is not the only one who feels like this.
If Ron Martin treated any of your family the way he has treated our club am sure you want to do the same Davewebbsbrain.
If the club goes under i suppose you would say its just one of those things!!!
Wake up for christ sake, Martin is killing our club

I don't feel the need to say on a public forum that kids read, that I would hurt Ron Martin enough to go to jail for it. Disgusting comment and one I would distance myself from as much as possible if I were you.

Martin is killing our club? much like Jobson and Johnson then. We came through that, we will come through this. Nobody knows exactly what has gone on these last couple of years, but everyone thinks they know. We are all experts aren't we!!!

the original quote was an insinuation, so like badger74 says is not really risky. Anyway, many people feel like this and I for one would like to at least see someone put their boot in his pants just to see his smug little face as he hobbles off......not criminal, but certainly cheeky
