Has Ricketts stayed in scotland

Does anyone know if Ricketts has stayed up in scotland with the squad or has he come back to england early .

The quality he showed against a local non league team or the quality he showed against professional opposition?

this is it in a nutshell for me, why the ***k has he been playing in maldova or wherever for the last few years, I had a good game against wakering rovers once, does this mean im the key to promotion this year.

I'd still hope we take him on, but perhaps he will have to accept a lower amount. Good news in a way that if there were any watching scouts, then they'd probably be as unimpressed too...

I understand that Stevenage were interested in him before he went to scotland. He tweeted to the effect that it was a hard decision but decided he owed it to Southend to give them the option........I would now expect him to sign for Stevenage - good luck to him! i think we are in more urgent need of a forward, Corr and Harris are not going to have much pace and maybe event less stamina for a long season. The others, Crawford, Asante, Sturrock and Patterson are all not good enough! Despite all the good work that has gone on in the close season, we are going to need more striking options if we truly wish to make a concerted push for promotion............I believe that Sturrock Snr has something up his sleeve!!

Still dont think it was clear cut as that. As I said a while back, Ricketts does a lot of media work and has written a book. All he said was that he had 'spoken to Graham Westley'. Nothing about the capacity of the conversation - could have been for the media, or research etc. Never mentioned an offer from Stevenage - people putting 2 and 2 together.

Or perhaps him wanting people to put 2 and 2 together in order to increase the pressure on Southend to sign him.

Luggy is certainly no mug and he will know how good Ricketts is, will have assessed his attitude and appetite for the game and come up with a value within the club's wage structure. Just remains to be seen if that value translates into an offer and if Ricketts deems that offer fair.

It's nice to sign a name people have heard of outside the lower leagues, but they don't always work out well (as Rohan's burger-munching namesake proved!).

Sometimes what isn't said is more revealing that what is. In terms of these kinds of deals, often silence suits all parties.

I dont see how people can write him off after 2 bad halves in pre season, he's obviously talented and wants to join, if theres money available I think he'd be a good signing still. Was he really that bad in Scotland? SHould we be looking to off load Harris because he didn't score?

Agree about writing him off- he mostly played in the weaker of our line ups and no-one shone particularly as far as I can make out. Also suspect he is further from match fitness than the rest...

However, it would be easier t o take the chnace if the money was right and I don't the trip will have done much to tempt PS to pay over the odds. Much will be up to RR. If he comes back and says ok we go with the SUFC offer then its worth a go as a fit motivated RR would certainly be an asset.

I note not a word from his Twitter (most unusual). Either he is on the way back (in which likely no deal) or in talks where probably PS has a better hand than he did pre-weekend.

I don't think that anyone has written him off Josh, everyone is just speculating as to why all has gone quiet recently. If we do not want him then PS and only PS will do any 'writing off'

If we sign him then great , but only at the right wages and paul sturrock knows what they are.

If we dont then we have two top quality wingers already.

PS knows what he is doing

Not sure how reliable this is but:

@JJmanky Rohan Rickets has signed a two year deal at #southend and Ryan Leonard looks close to signing for the club

I would genuinely be shocked if this were true.
Golly Gosh!! .....................JJmanky dedicated Southend fan??? Does anyone know of him? I have my doubts but who knows?.........HIM?????????? Would havebeen a little more convinced if it had been CJPhillips on twitter!

The tweet has come from @TransferDeals2

This account looks like it was only setup earlier today.

All of the 16 tweets regarding various transfer rumours this person has made, look legit enough.

Perhaps a Southend fan on the wind up.

As I said above, I would genuinely be shocked if this were true. As the impression I got from various people at or close to the club, was a move would be unlikely.

I have asked a contact to confirm either way...
