religious

As a general, when I've prayed for guidance, I usually word things to "help ME make the right choices" so that's not really applicable in this instance.

Don't think I've made any major balls ups so must have made the majority of right decisions along the way.

Except the 24,000 manuscripts that back up the Bible, although as I say its historical evidence, not dna evidence.

Its far from historical. It is, at best, 2nd or 3rd hand accounts of a man (or men) who may or may not have existed, sprinkled with a few magic tricks and few devices to keep the proles in line.

Also, as I understand it, there were 80 gospels originally, including Judas' which were overlooked in the final edit as they didn't fit the picture.

I recommend you read the "Book Of Dave" by Will Self, where a future society religion is based on the rantings of an insane cabbie Dave which is found some millennia after the world goes tits up.

You do crack me up at times MK.

I take it you've thoroughly researched this, as you're typing in quite a confident manner.

And I thought you criticised me for not having an open mind?

So when the Bible says, "Thou Shalt Not Kill", and on the next page says, "An Eye for An Eye" what exactly would you do then?

So im not religious at all - i went to a catholic school but having experienced what the religion had to offer it wasnt for me.
One of my closest friends is very religious. We have had many conversations on religion, but one in particular i was interested in hearing some other opinions.

Praying

Now my friend tells me (like some other people have said on this thread) that in times when life is getting too much they will pray for guidance, and through the prayers they receive the guidance.
I always say that in those times i think things over to myself and figure out the best course of action weighing up the pro's and con's and come to my conclusion.

So for those that pray on a regular basis, im interested (and not in a smug ill prove you wrong kind of way) how your prayers are answered

Can we return to the point that needed response please and not further inflame a subject that was pretty much dealt with only yesterday? Agree to disagree, respect each other's opinions and move on.

Its quite simple mate, whats to stop me to write loads of documents stating how my dog performed a miracle in front of thousands of people, if that was discovered years later surely that must be true because thousands of people saw it. In my opinion christianity keeps people in line and happy so its easier to say its all true than to crush peoples beliefs.

just take an eye and treat the man back to health is what God told me when I asked him...

Probably the thing that would stop it would be all those people who were present at the event, stating that it didn't happen. Surprisingly none of them bothered writing any articles that have yet been found.

And then theres the fact of the resurrection. No-one can explain that.

The phrase "an eye for an eye", (Hebrew: עין תחת עין‎) is a quotation from Exodus 21:23–27 in which a person who has taken the eye of another in a fight is instructed to give his own eye in compensation.

So there.:p

So you're telling me that the reason God is real is because 2000 years ago nobody wrote an article saying that there wasn't a miracle worker?

Nope. I'm saying it's quite a coincidence that 24,000+ manuscripts found back up what the bible says, and none discredit it.
