religious

Well, this religous thread has survived much better than those in the past - 21 pages and its not descended into name calling etc :)

Very enjoyable read.

I presume this notion of "the quick fix" is not widely publicised within the Church as it would seriously effect attendances across the country and would therefore have a knock on effect regarding fundraising and collections. Thus undermining the wealth af the Church and its position as a substantial Landowner in this country.

:) Not sure it can be classed as a "quick fix" but there are a lot of churches, both Anglican and other denominations, where it is made clear. That doesn't mean that God doesn't want you to go to church, of course, simply that it isn't required for salvation. If one comes to a belief in God through Jesus, then it isn't unatural to enjoy worship, and enjoyable (sometimes!) to do it in groups. But this is all as a result of faith, not, as I say, a requirement. Same with "good works". The Bible classes good works done to earn salvation as futile, but a Faith that then isn't demonstrated by good works is "dead".

As for the position of the Church as Landowner, etc, that is a whole other can of worms!
