Promotion and relegation 2019/20 season

Surely this has backed League one into a corner and means we will be relegated?

That mean the scum make the play offs.

Sounds like we are going to play Exeter, they have been one of the best sides in our division, many say they should have been champions, so it will be tough. We have drawn home and away with them this season, so it will be a tight game. I wonder if they will only play one game on a neutral ground instead of home and away to reduce costs.

Have you got any players left to play them?

Yes the released players haven't gone yet and all the senior guys who were told their contracts won't be renewed say they would still like to play in any last few games we play. You never know if we got promoted they might then be offered a new contract!

Very true and also puts them in the shop window I’d they don’t.

No- it’s just makes the disarray even greater.
The FA at levels 3-7 made an absolutely compelling case why promotions and relegations would be wholly inappropriate if leagues were decided on PPG (see previous post). A gift to the legals. L2 clubs have also decided by 20 votes out of 24 that relegation from L2 should not happen given how the season is ending - yes really they did!!!! So actually they voted for PPG with promotions not relegation

So if L1 finished PPG then both the FA argument and the L2 decision both suggest there should be no relegation from L1

If L1 actually finished why should we be financially punished finishing the season to maintain the integrity of L1 only to get relegated and replaced by a club from a league completed as above?

I do not want us relegated, I want my club in L1 next year. This is different to the argument to what we deserve but actually on the basis above I don’t think we deserve to go down either.

This has a long way to play before we are close to settling promotion and relegation

Ludicrous that this decision isn’t across the board. You cannot have L2 ended with PPG and L1 playing behind closed doors. Absolutely pathetic to even entertain the idea that we could get a different outcome

I think the league one situation has been brought about by MacAnthony at Peterborough, he is desperate to play all the games, but I doubt it will happen now.

I wasn’t privy to the meeting for L2 but some reporters are saying the sky sports update is wrong and there is in fact relegation from league 2. I am trying to get confirmation.

Something to do with how would the FA look insisting on relegation and promotion to and from the prem then not allowing relegation from league 2. Considering how the FA are looking right now this really just adds to how they look i think.

Given the NL was voided there maybe a case for no promotion or relation to or from it anyway but thats an argument for someone to take up and not me

Well this is a real mess now.

If league two teams are immune from relegation then from a legal standpoint league one teams should not be relegated - only a consistent decision that binds all football league teams irrespective of decision will work otherwise this will be going through the courts for months.

Agreed, whatever is decided should apply to all divisions. We don't want this dragging on into next season, a line must be drawn under it and we all start again next season with a clean slate. Football has enough financial problems without having to pay legal people a fortune!
