I've tried to suggest Story of the Blues by Wah for the playlist, to no avail. I think that would be a fantastic walk out tune. With all that's happened at the club over the years, even the lyrics seem to fit.

If you want to use some classical… carmen burana or some holst… or really cheesy (though I love the tune), war of the worlds.. not some bloody ice skating nonsense.

My dad had a short stint at doing the match day music in the late 90s and used to play War of the World's thanks to @Kenny who got it burnt on to a CD for him.

Back then, the club used to receive dozens of promos each week and then one came through that to this day is part of Southend United heritage! I actually still have it, it went by the name of Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation. Some of you might know it

That replaced the Cockerel Chorus goal music and the rest is history!

It makes me cringe and I really don’t see the relevance!
I’m guessing someone in the west started it and everyone else just followed?

@They Call It Madness!!! @Napster If your looking for a local connection, then Ian Dury maintains the likelihood is that he contracted Polio, during the 1949 Polio epidemic, at the Westcliff Seafront Swimming Pool (Subsequently it became the Westcliff Leisure Centre and is now the Genting Casino).

Anyway I've always found the opening lines of his song 'Plaistow Patricia' rather rousing and particularly moving.
