Potential new signings for this season

Lets face it no one is going to choose us over any other league club at the moment, we've got such a bad reputation now. Any new players we do get are going to have to be non-league wannabe's or last-ditch has-beens who haven't been able to find another home.

God its depressing, and I'm usually one of the optimists!

Looking forward to seeing his Page 3 model fiancée in the stands!

Does anyone remember the good old days when Southend were allowed to be involved in the close season transfer market? They would have signed three or four players by now, some or all would involve a transfer fee which would get us all excited and full of optimism for the coming season.
Those were the days my friends.

Thats a proper random one. Terrific player, but a real "hot head".

Was the next big thing when he broke through at Leeds United. Good engine, tough tackling and a fantastic array of passing. One of those players that if you could calm his off the field problems down he'd be a wonderful signing.

Cannot see the point of this thread listen we will not be signing any player s until January

Do you honestly believe that will be the case? We are going to go into the season with about 8 players, then the rest made up with the youth team?

We WILL sign players during the summer. Now, whether they are all signed tomorrow, or all signed on the last day of the Summer transfer window, there will be signings at Southend United.

Why? Do you know something?

We are under an embargo because we still owe the PFA for them bailing us out. The embargo will be lifted when we get enough money to pay them back. It doesn't look like we have much money at the moment, so we will need to gain some money through player sales. We have so far accepted an offer for Francis of £150k, but it looks like he is stalling for a better offer, whether it is higher wages or a better team. It has already been discussed on here that Mildenhall is on the transfer list and it is suspected that McCormack and Barrett may also be on there way out as they believe they can play at a higher level.

Moussa's contract runs out soon and with negotiations on the contract sounding like they are not going anywhere, with Moussa, or his agent, demanding ridiculous wage demands, he could leave, but as he is under 24 years old, we will gain a fee from him.

If these 5 players leave then our wage bill will reduce and we will get some funds, which would possibly go towards paying future bills, so that we can avoid any future court cases/winding up orders.

With Hooper gaining a lot of interest and news coming out that they have accepted a bid from Middlesbrough that fits their valuation of him (which is around £2.5m-£3m, therefore, if we have a sell-on clause of 20%, we could be getting ~£500k) this will aid us in paying the PFA back, therefore lifting the embargo. Nicky Bailey is another player with a sell-on clause and is expected to leave following his hilarious penalty miss that helped Charlton fail to win promotion, but with news that they haven't received an offer for Bailey, means that he might have to stay at his 'dream move' for yet another season.

Even IF we get the embargo lifted, we still have to sign players who have the quality to get us back up, the desire to want to pay in the football league and who wouldn't demand a big wage, BUT who would sign for us over another League Two team, what can we offer that others can't? The best we can offer is playing in front of 6,500 (more than most League Two teams next season) and a promise that we will try and pay them on time. Adding onto this the fact that we need a new assistant manager and who, apart from a die hard fan, would want to take that job with all the problems we have.

What I'm trying to say is, we can get the transfer embargo lifted before the end of August, but it will be harder to attract the type of players that are required.

But we will not see any of it will we all this talk about sell on clauses it will go straight into the fossetts fund , Bournemouth done it all last season with youth players they had no option
