Ok, so our previous three seasons in this league, the team finishing 7th have got 74, 71 and 71 points respectively. In the last 2 seasons they would only have needed 69 points (and a superior goal difference) to retain 7th spot.
And you are saying we need to win our last 9 which would give us 80 points?

I think not.

Indeed. If you look at the current points per game of the top 7 and compare this to the final points per game of the previous three seasons, it is significantly higher than the last two and similar to 21/22. That suggests 74 points will be the requirement - certainly not 80 !!

I agree. Despite being on a fantastic run, they are still in the drop zone. So they are still vulnerable and it only takes a goal against them at home for heads to suddenly drop again. If the players are serious about trying to get into the playoffs, fearing a side in the relegation zone shouldn't be in their thoughts. Getting a goal early against them is what we have to do.
Boston although in good form, have only won 2 home games all season.

Can anyone lend a hand please?

I'm trying to purchase 2 adults and one OAP flexi ticket. However on my account it only lets me purchase one flexi ticket, is that how its meant to be or me doing something wrong? Do I actually need to buy three tickets from three separate accounts? Thanks in advance

I think getting our nose in front for all our remaning games is a key factor for getting 3 points & not draws. An early goal each time would be even nicer. Getting two goals ahead & going for a third is the ideal.

Hhhhmmmmmmmmmm. [strokes chin]

Don't want to dampen your optimism Rattus but we've only managed three or more twice in the league. If we make it to the play offs our nerves will have been shredded by single goal victories while watching through our fingers as we watch our flaky back line and GK defend a lead.

True but we have scored twice in four consecutive times for the first time this season and last season.

I don't know if we did it the season before that mind you but baring in mind we really were **** probably not (although we did have a 13 game unbeaten run).

We actually scored at least twice in five consecutive National League games between 30th September 2023 and 24th October 2023 (D2-2 Rochdale (a), W2-0 Oxford City (h), W2-0 Woking (a), W5-0 Solihull Moors (h), W3-0 Ebbsfleet United (h)), although there was a 0-2 FA Cup reverse at Yeovil during that period.

We also scored at least twice in the last two fixtures of 2022/23 (W3-1 Scunthorpe United (a), W2-1 Wealdstone (h)) and the first two fixtures of 2023/24 (W4-0 Oldham Athletic (h), W2-0 Dagenham & Redbridge (a)).

The last time we scored at least two goals in at least four consecutive matches in all competitions in the same season was…a six-match spell between 22nd October and 12th November 2022: W3-0 Scunthorpe United (h), W3-0 Maidstone United (a), W2-0 York City (a), W3-0 Barnet (a), D2-2 Notts County (h), W2-0 Dorking Wanderers (h).

We've just got to ......

Take each game as it comes.
Give 110%.
Keep it tight for the first 20 mins.
Run the channels.
Beat the first man at corners.
Compete in midfield.
Get the run of the ball.
It’s a game of two halves (plus plenty of needless extra time)
it only takes a minute to score a goal
Professional foul (one for the team)
Put in a shift
Put into the mixer

But never was one game at a time more relevant. Focus on what we need to do not what others might do. Eastleigh is not a must win game but a defeat would be a massive blow.

FWIW 5 points from the 3 away games is my prediction. If we manage 6 from 3 the dream is still on.

I’m going to be pedantic, sorry. Having drawn the first of the three away games 6 points isn’t possible. 7 is, and 5 or less is, but not 6.

I don't think you are being pedantic. Good spot. Nothing wrong with getting the maths correct.

We would (as a society) be pretty *ucked if we got the numbers wrong left, right & centre .........

....... oh hang on a minute, I think I should contact Ms Reeves at No. 11 ...............

Gateshead are imploding and are realistically the ones to catch now
See post #416. Gateshead certainly have a challenging run in:

Home v Tamworth
Away v Barnet
Home v Daggers
Away at Forest Green Rovers
Home v York
Away v Hartlepool
Away v Boston
Home v Southend United

I can see them gaining less than 10 points in those eight matches...... ending with 70 points or less. They have only gained five points from their previous eight matches.

You just know it will all come down to our final match. And you just know what will happen......
