in our last 9 games, we have 14 points

3 wins
5 draws
1 defeat

Lets assume we keep the current form going for the last 9

67 points total

Last season and the season before would have put us 9th in the table

It’s still gonna be a massive effort if we make the playoffs, so many games need to go our way as well as us picking up points, and no games are easy at this stage of the season, so many players from other teams are playing for contracts for next season so they will be raising their game.

We’re already on a run. We just need to continue it. I feel a Keegan moment coming.

I’d love it, I’d ****ing love it if we made the play offs (even if we don’t get through them).

Maher out eh?
I do agree. And it’s been Maher in for me since the start.

We DO need that run to include a few more wins though or it won’t be enough.

Very unlikely.

More nearer 74 points (Perhaps more) I think will be required for 7th spot this season.

7 wins from 9.
Trying to put my unbiased objective brain into gear, I looked at the remaining games for the teams currently 4th to 10th and put forward my predicted results. The final table somewhat surprised me:-
4th Halifax 80 pts.
5th Oldham 76 pts
6th Rochdale 75 pts
7th Southend 69 pts
8th Altrincham 68 pts
9th Gateshead 68 pts
10th Eastleigh 65 pts

I actually had us winning 4, drawing 4 and losing 1 of our last 9 games (Boston ).
Whether or not I have been realistic, I think we can draw one conclusion, Halifax, Oldham and Rochdale are probably uncatchable by us. It is Gateshead and Altrincham we should be targeting. No surprise really as they have both lost 4 on the bounce.
If by some miracle I am proved correct, then it would be Halifax at The Shay in the first play-off. Now that wouldn’t be too bad would it?🥳🥳

A combination of Heinz bet on them underdogs yesterday would have got back decent return . Was a decent night for us tbh.

Re the Boston match. Yes, they are in good form over the last ten matches, but most of that success has been down to incredible form away from home. They have won their last five away matches, against Fylde, Dagenham, Yeovil, Braintree and yesterday Rochdale.

At home, in their last seven matches since Christmas, they have won only one (admittedly 3-1 against York City), but have drawn 4 and lost two. Sounds winnable to me, and the key is to go out believing the matches are winnable.

I agree. Despite being on a fantastic run, they are still in the drop zone. So they are still vulnerable and it only takes a goal against them at home for heads to suddenly drop again. If the players are serious about trying to get into the playoffs, fearing a side in the relegation zone shouldn't be in their thoughts. Getting a goal early against them is what we have to do.

We've just got to ......

Take each game as it comes.
Give 110%.
Keep it tight for the first 20 mins.
Run the channels.
Beat the first man at corners.
Compete in midfield.
Get the run of the ball.
