Does anyone know if Phil Brown is allowed bathroom breaks during the '48 hours official build up'? I'm concerned that he might find himself armed for the clean-up operation but end up using the wrong hand due to revisiting Smith's excellent penalty save against Brentford.

Surely one of our resident contract experts will know the answer?

As long as he concentrates solely on the club then yes.

Personally Id think that was out of order as I do like to take a book in.....

i'd say most managers would be at home mostly with a massive emphasis on their team's match. Man utd played Liverpool in a League cup tie last night but would moyes have been in a studio a day or 2 beforehand? Don't think so. but think you'd agree we are not going to see eye to eye on this. better to draw a line I think.

U think you should actually ask a Man U supporting mate to check MUTV and to check to see if Fergusson did any interviews the day or two days before a match :winking:

Nice comparison between manager of man utd and SUFC, I absolutely guarantee the manager of Man utd does ten times the amount of 'media' than phil brown does. How long do you think it takes Chris phillips to ask Brown a few questions at the training ground, now compare that to being the manger of the biggest club in the world with its own TV channel on top of that, every time i put sky sports news on I see Moyes and his miserable face looking at me doing some interview or other, while Brown does the odd bit of media every fortnight or so (good luck to him) I run a company and i am always glad of my 'distractions'

Punditry work Lee. Not general pre-match interviews. big difference.

Really?? You started this thread around issues of time management and dedicating time to 'team affairs' I stand by my statement, no doubt about it phil brown has far less demands on his time than Moyes, its not even a debate or an opinion i am giving, it is a fact. Whether it is an interview or a bit of pundit work its still time not thinking about or preparing or planning anything to effect the team, if you add up the minutes spent on camera/interview room/press conference etc moyes wins by hours.

I heard PB had to pop to Tescos earlier and was asked if he wanted help with packing his bags, he then filled up his car and was asked what pump he used.....Later on he had to decide whether to have bangers and mash or shepherds pie for dinner.

Should we be concerned that all of this non-match brain activity might have interrupted his "official pre-match build up"?

Why do we need to turn our form around, it seems to me reading all your threads that apart from one match ( morcambe) SUFC form as been good, what we need to turn around is just 2 things i think, thats the schoolboy mistakes that have cost us dearly and our need to take our chances in front of goal when they crop up.Everyone seems to agree that we have played most teams off the park so our form must be good in that respect. So come on you strikers and defenders be fearless .

Harry Redknapp managed to get Spurs into the semis of the champions league whilst starring in Wii adverts, doing punditry work, conducting interviews outside the training ground and counting his stack of used 20s.

Just saying.

Erm 1 point. If a premiership manager has a game on the Monday night - he is often seen at a premier league game on the Saturday. All Brown is doing is watching football , which better than him watching another sport, in the evening, ie his own time, that in no way for me provides any conflict whatsoever - farcical thread if people still think the bloke should be on 48 hour lock down !! Absurd

Phil must have a nice few quid put away,

TV/ radio pundit or football manager,One or the other IMO .

Why must he?

He hasnt worked for years and isnt going to be earning much with us.

Lots of managers do media work on top of managerial duties and even some players.

If us getting a manager above our level means allowing them to do media work to supplmenent their income then I have no issue with that.

There are plenty of reasons to criticise Brown for, doing some TV work midweek in the evening isnt one of them.

I look forward to that appointment ................................. :stunned:

Sounds to me like your business is going to go breasts north very soon, and you'll only have yourself to blame.

Reports suggest Phil received 1.4 million pay off from Hull,He must of collected tidy sums from when he was dismissed at other clubs,So he can be hardly struggling to survive.

IF things were going well for him at Southend nobody would even care if he was doing media work 24/7,The facts are things are not going very well so maybe he should concentrate on his main job ,Am I being unfair..Maybe,But these guys put themselves up to be shot down.

His pay off was way off of 1.4million, certainly less than half that. Still not peanuts obviously...

Ill ask the same question Ive asked all along.

What exactly is there to be done in the evening 2 days before a game?

I have nothing wrong with criticism of Brown, he certainly is there to be shot down for valid reasons at the moment, but to suggest he shouldnt be allowed to do anything in the evening is absurd.

Hopefully Phil is fully focused on the game now with just 10 hours to go.....I'm hoping he has been fasting since yesterday and that he is wearing "man-sized" nappies to avoid "time wasting" trips to the bathroom.

2 days before the game,Running the rule over potential targets possibly non league?

How? Using Football Manager? Youtube?

Why cant he do that during the day, in the 6 hours after the team have finished training or even on the way to the studio?

To expect anyone to be working 16 hours a day is ridiculous.

I guarantee Tilson never used to do it, and Sturrock spent very little time even on the training pitch.
