It is not me that spreads unsubtantiated gossip and expects everyone to believe it because your "sourcs" says it is true.
Then you make out I am saying I am always correct. I back my argument up. You just say "hey we know everything - believe us regardless of any evidence or how harmful to Southend United".

By the way. there is only one SUFC that matters in my book - so the thread title should have used Sheff Utd, Blades or whatever.

I have a question.. Has your source now confirmed there is no basis to this story? Also, I assume this source won't be trusted in the future if not true.. Finally, if true - I see no benefit of hearing it here first, over waiting a couple of weeks for an official club announcement?? This is just 16pages of arguing, rumour (which may be true, may not be). Let's discuss it when (and if????????) it happens...

Seriously, the day a football forum discusses things only when and if they happen is the day... well, the day that we all get very, very bored. Lighten up people, it's an internet forum. The initial post was published in good faith and should be taken as an unsubstantiated rumour from a source proven in the past to be VERY trustworthy.

One other thing to remember is that owners and moderators post as opinionated posters first (just like everyone else) and then in their official capacity a very distant second.

If every rumour this summer is going to turn into a 17 page thread discussing whether a rumour is true because it came from a "source", then I think the owners will end up paying a lot for their server hosting!!

It is a rumour, you can either believe it or not. It really is that simple!

P.S. how many Tilson to XXX team threads did we have? I know some ended up being made because it turned into the "joke to do" when a new vacancy became available, but still.

There is a vicious rumour that our erst-while manager has applied to become the manager of Sheffield United.

Evidently he got his SUFCs mixed up and ended up at Southend by mistake.

Calm down Kev, as you can see from the very first post, young Kenneth was merely voicing his thoughts on a vicious rumour that seems to have reared it's head. It's always good to have healthy discussion on SZ and nobody has implied the rumour is true. Rumours won't have evidence because they are rumours. Everyone is free to discuss rumours on SZ as long as they aren't libelous, be it lowly mortals like us or higher beings such as Ken or SBH.

I personally don't think Phil Brown is the right man to be at the helm at SUFC and the sooner he hops off to his next high profile publicity stunt the better. I would always trust McNasty and I myself hold Ken in high regard as a very credible person.

How will highlighting the possibility that we have a manager already trying to leave get in the way of success?

Lets go down your road and say its total nonsense. What damage exactly has been done ? Has Brown got upset and walked out because his loyalty was questioned? As far as I can see it there is no damage done whatsoever.

If its true we are all a little more enlightened as to the man who is meant to be bringing us success.

If it is true and he applied and didnt get it there will never be any official news. We therefore never get to know that his would rather be elsewhere already.

Thanks for the rumour Mcnasty. I agree with the many posters that this site would be dull without a little speculation, and this is definitely believable. Seeing bernie friends comment gives it more backing.

Fingers crossed its true and he gets it, short of that I will cheer him on until he finally does leave one way or the other
