Just been on the Sheffield United forum and the betting has about 40 names on it with Stuart McCall as favourite. Phil Brown is not on the list, Iain Dowie is. If Brown has applied, I feel borderline sorry for him; Dowie is seemingly carrying a heavier rep among Betting experts.

Brown is beginning to look like the playboy who gets the atrocious minger pregnant during a drunken one night stand and is forced to marry her. He's reduced Southend to an atrocious needy minger of a club.

Tilson got us promoted to the Championship without spending anything and when we did splash any cash we got relegated.

Jam_man ,my thread was never intended as a put down off Tilly , more as a message to all those making out JE is the next messiah.I was trying to point out to all those that getting Newport with all their money promoted from the Conference was really no big deal.

Jam_man ,my thread was never intended as a put down off Tilly , more as a message to all those making out JE is the next messiah.I was trying to point out to all those that getting Newport with all their money promoted from the Conference was really no big deal.

Money doesn't always guarantee success, and when it does I still think that credit is due. Well done to JE, but if we are hoping for a manager that has had one good season in club management, then we should just stick with Brown.

Exactly Chappers, I just wish all the doom sayers will just for once all get behind the manager, forget their dislike of him and truly give him a chance ,and the team he puts together , by that i mean no booing of one person, or during a game .TRY BEING SUPPORTERS FOT A CHANGE.!

No I didnt take it as a put down, but it didn reflect what happened. Tilson got us up without any money, Justin Edinburgh did it with money.

A leading member of SZ discussing our current manager looking to leave almost immediately (though with the attitude of so many supporters I could see why) but without a shred of evidence to back it up is likely to disrupt and divide. As it has done.

If you can give a shred of evidence - I will unreservedly apologise.

Until then - you are not helping the club to go forward and at least attempt to create success!

in fairness the only thing keeping this thread alive and drawing attention to it is your continue posting. We all get your opinion, stating the same thing again and again and again isn't really necessary. You also say that you don't want 'division' within the fan base. Please try rereading the aggressive nature of your posts , they do nothing to create harmony. I don't know the original poster and I don't know you , but I am perfectly capable of reviewing the information available, taking into account previous posts and drawing my own conclusions . The only damage that this thread is doing to SUFC is to upset some of the fans , and your posts are as much to blame for that as anything else on here IMO

Okay, we keep hearing Justin Edinburgh spent a lot of money at Newport. But is that really true? There does not seem to be any big money signings in his current team. But he certainly has a good eye for good, cheap players. Take the lad he got on loan from AFC Wimbledon. He has not been able to stop scoring since he arrived at Newport.

I don't think either of those statements are particularly true. Newport's owner has money but I don't think they've spent a huge amount and have finished higher in the league than a number of teams with significantly higher budgets (Luton, Wrexham, Grimsby).

Also, let's not re-write history. Tilly walks on water as far as I'm concerned but he was backed financially in both promotion years and certainly in League One he absolutely spent money to get us promoted. Efe Sodje, JCR, Shaun Goater, Luke Guttridge, Lee Bradbury... none of these players came to Roots Hall for the atmosphere. We punched above our weight that season with a decent squad which was probably fractionally above what we should have been spending. Pretty similar to what Newport have done this season.
