I have said all along that Matt Paterson will score goals and is a 20 goal a season striker. Luggy wasn't too keen to play him and Paterson probably didn't fit into his style of play, quite often Paterson coming on and not able to play his usual game. I hope that paterson does well at Stockport and Luggy welcomes him back and gives him game time.

Blair has 5 in quite a few games. Pato has 5 in only a few. Not knocking Blair as I think he's been ok for us, but Pato is a far more talented striker and capable of playing at a higher level.

I do respect your opinion and everyone is more than entitled to their own but I think it needs to be pointed out that Sturrock has seen Paterson and Spencer in training all season, I'm sure if they did enough to warrant a place then they'd have been in and around the first team. PS isn't going to cut his nose off to spite his face, the success of the football club is what matters. PS isn't blind to the fact that we need another striker as he has admitted numerous times, even if it does put his son's place under threat.

Personally I'm very, very impressed by the job Sturrock has done so far so I'm more than happy to trust his judgement. Hope Pato does well though, if he does then who knows. Either PS may decide to give him another crack here or we may just be able to get a fee for him from elsewhere.

In response to the above comment, not true. Sturrock doesnt want any of the tilson era players as has been said on here plenty of times. Paterson is a better striker than Blair end of.

In you opinion. When did Sturrock say this? Surely this is just sure speculation as Grant is a regular, and the rest were average players.

To be fair, they are totally different players. Sturrock's hold up play is second to none and he brings the midfield into play. Pato needs to play with Blair rather than Corr to get the best of Pato

If we got rid of Sturrock where would he go? Oh yeah back into the non-leagues or to whatever club daddy manages next.

Second to none? Really? It's good but second to none?

Can I ask a question, If Paterson scores in all his games at Stockport and Corr still isn't fit, and Sturrock Jnr is still not scoring, and Sturrock Snr still does not pick Pato, or give him any sort of match day involvement after his loan, would you still be of the opinion he is picking his strike force on ability alone? Pato has 5 goals in 7 starts, Blair has the same in about 25(ish) starts. In the extra 18 games Blair has just 3 assists and an assist assist at Rotherham, it's not a glowing indictment of his contribution to his area of the team, the strikforce.

The consensus seems to be, Sturrock doesn't pick him, therefore he's not good enough, why can it not just be that Sturrock is wrong, or just plain doesn't like him. Players get frozen out for non-footballing reasons all the time, it appears this is the case for Pato, when he clearly has goals in him.

We wouldn't get rid of him as we need him, and it is irrelevant where he goes if we got rid of him.

I think the point that RayleighShrimp is trying to make is that; when PS wasn't around to sign his son, despite all the wonderful attributes he supposedly has that are lauded about on here, not one manager in the top 6 flights of football rated these supposed second to none abilities. If his abilities in hold up play are truly second to none, surely someone a little higher than Truro would of signed him when his father isn't around? Not even a Conference North or South signed believed he would enhance their squad, let alone a league side or even Conference Prem side.

That said, we have him, and he can play a part in our side, but just a part, not a leading role. Pato's inclusion, in a lot of people's opinion's, would enhance the first team more. But it's a debate that will rage on until either one of the Sturrock's leave (both at the same time if history continues to repeat itself), it's just a shame that PAto never got a fair chance, in my opinion.

Stats can easily be twisted. 5 goals in 7 starts? Don't know where you got that from as he has 4 this season, and as we are talking about him under Sturrock's management, we can't include last season. He has 4 goals in 15 games, and Sturrock has 5 in 25. Although Sturrock's is worse, Sturrock is not a goalscorer, and he brings the midfield into the game, which allows us to attack in numbers. He only has 3 assists, but he is the 3rd highest contributer to our goals this season (goals scored + assists), so you can see how easily stats can be twisted.

If, in an extremely rare occasion, that Corr still isn't fit, Blair Sturrock isn't scoring (for someone who isn't an out-and-out striker, you would expect), Sturrock hasn't brought a striker or two in on loan and Paterson has scored in every game for Stockport, then I expect Sturrock to at least give him a chance. Although, if all those things happened, then I expect us to be mid-table and have no chance of getting into the play-offs, so there would be no risk in playing him, or any of the up-and-coming youth players.

Sturrock has said he wants his strikers to hold the ball up. Paterson can't do that.

When Sturrock has tried to change things around he's done it by playing strikers with a lot of pace to get in behind defences. Paterson can't do that either.

It isn't going to matter how well Paterson does at Stockport. No matter how many goals he gets he isn't going to get stronger and he isn't going to get quicker and therefore he isn't going to be a Paul Sturrock striker.

I was including today's game as it was a league two game, and many on here who prefer BS to MP have claimed that Pato has only performed in the cup games.

Over half them games have been less than 15 minutes, which is not really a fair indication of goals per games ratio, IMO, which is why I only compared the two players starts.

See I would expect this too, but as Beefy says, he doesn't really fit into Sturrock's plans, and to me it's a shame that a player who could, again in my opinion, really make a positive impact on the strikeforce. Judging by Sturrock's comments, and Grant/Pato tweets, the door seems permanently closed anyway. I see it as a shame, and definitely the clubs loss, there are teams in this league that Pato would excel against, as there for Corr and Sturrock.

I rate Paterson, always have, so you don't need to preach to me about Paterson, I've said from the start that Paterson is a 20 goal a season player with plenty of skill.....I think that playing Sturrock and Paterson would be a good idea. They are different players, as I've already stated, you can't say one is better than the other, they bring different, but equally good things to the team.

This is always my biggest point - and sorry for preaching to the converted - but we massively under utilise one assett.

Absolute joke that a couple are using this as an excuse to slate Paul Sturrock, Blair Sturrock and Barry Corr.
Dearo Dear! Speechless!
