Hatter fan here.

Paterson was simply outstanding for County. Totally committed footballer, with heart and determination and bags of skill. Cannot see why any of you don't rate him!

I and every County fan wish him all the best for the future, and if he ever wants to come back to County we would all welcome him with open arms.
There were plenty that did, trouble is, he is/was too expensive for either your team or ours.

Money is a terrible evil, especially in football!

I only came on to say the kid was awesome, grit, heart, determination. Let him take the free kicks, the penalties and run the front line and he will score loads, he just looked a very confident striker who should be moving to a higher league than playing against the bloggers in L2.

He literally bled for County on his debut, scored a screamer and went onto lead the line brilliantly in games after this - he will be sorely missed at County.

Can anyone explain what his 'spectacles' celebration is?

Both our clubs are suffering as a result of that first!!!

And the spectacles thing is just something that he did when he was scoring here (as it shows here, Anthony Grant and Scott Spencer did it too for a while)

What a cracking picture!

The Manchester Evening News picked up a picture of Pato doing it as did the local Stockport rag. If we had stayed in the football league I think we would have persuaded Pato to stay with us, he was immediately liked by the club, players and fans with his can do, hard working, very approachable attitude - you guys have a serious football player on your hands, it's amazing that he's being forced out at Southend.

Best of luck for next season.

County

'gets stuck in and is determined' are not descriptions I would have guessed at based on his showings for us.....

Agreed, although he did seem to be working harder in the last couple of games he had for us, without much result. The accolades from Hatters fans can only really prove that he made an impression in a very poor team (albeit one that managed to beat us without him!). I hope he did do enough to be bought by another team as his contract is far too expensive for us and we really didn't see enough from him to continue with him even if we could afford it.

Confidence plays a big part when you're a striker, as does a good start, and on Pato's debut for us last season in a crucial relegation clash with Wycombe he fluffed what proved a crucial sitter and never really got going after that. A big shame as technically he's a decent player and hasn't had a proper run in the side. If he bulks up a bit he will go on to have a decent career, and he certainly benefitted from a new start on loan with you.

Sounds like you haven't seen the best of him because you haven't given him a run of games. He doesn't need to bulk up either, he's strong as an ox as his battle with Futcher and Sodje v Bury showed, he got battered but gave just as good as he got, and came off bloodied, black and blue with a goal and the MOTM!

I'll sign off here, best of luck for next season. And if any of you know Pato, let him know there's always a place at County for him.

Best of luck to you guys as well. I don't know Pato personally but if you're on Twitter you can follow him - he's MattPat35.

Really appreciate your words. I thought Paterson looked pretty useful from the very start, but for whatever reasons (financial I believe) he just did not get a run of games here. Then of course all the 'he's not getting a game so he must be ****' brigade jump in.

I do not believe he will be here next season, not after his treatment at this club which has been shocking to say the least. I hope he finds the right team and continues to score goals. He obviously has made a lasting impression at Stockport, not an easy thing to do when you are bottom of the Football League - also believe he turned down loan moves to both Torquay and Stevenage because he wanted to go and play, not be stuck on a bench.

Well done Pato maybe a few of the super posters might sit up and take a little more notice now. Best of luck in the BSP County, fingers crossed straight back up again.

I'm another one who doesnt want to see Pato go. He hasnt been giving a long enough run in the side in my opinion and he just needs to get that confidence back which is soo crucial for a striker. He has shown glimpses of what he can do and I dont want him to end up being another potential Hooper....

No chance of that if he was a good player then Southampton who have a eye for players potential would not have sold him to us as part of barnard deal

From what I've been told Pato never wanted to leave Southampton but Pardew was so desperate to get Barnard that he forced him out to us.

Regardless the lad has obviously done very well at Stockport and has now scored goals in every league bar the Premiership, he's still only 21 and I stand by my guns and firmly believe that he should have got far more pitch time than Blair.

Can JohnnyShuts tell us, apart from the goals what else he brought to the table, because seemingly that is far more important than scoring!

Ok here we go, the person that instigated the comments on Paterson on the County board was a guy called Mitch, aka Mattloydd, the respondent was mostly a bloke called Jonnys who registered on the board when Paterson signed. Make of it what you will.
