New hattrick season

You'll be all pleased to know I'm starting again in Hattrick. Rubbish team to start with, so the only way is up.

Phew, an 82nd minute winner squeezes me through 3-2 in the cup. Came up against an outstanding midfield and by rights we should be out but I won't complain!

Looks like a winnable game next and it's at home, though playing 2nd in the league Sunday so can't afford to PIC first.

Massive game for me today at home to second place. He seems to be relying on one superstar to carry him through and doesn't appear to have too much else. I've only conceded one goal all season with my defence now achieving WC rating and the rest of my team strong in all positions including reserves. If I win the gap opens to at least 2 points but I have a sneaky feeling 3rd may drop points today too.

Downside - 1st against second and only 41,000 down to the weather - I haven't broken the 50K figure since I expanded the stadium. :(

Upside - 1-0 up after 5 minutes - YAY !

Yippee - 2-0

Third place is 1-0 up though - still this league is for me to lose not for him to win.

EDIT 3-0 with only 20 mins gone - that's as good as sealed it.

261 Hatstats - New Club Record - not bad on a 5-4-1 - 60 stars and 2 points clear - a plus five the only downside for one of my WB trainees doubling up as a matchday winger due to Supernatural wing

3-0 away win and with 2nd only drawing I am 4pts clear at halfway. All in my hands now. New record 62.5 stars as well

I'm now 8 points clear which is nice! Went out of the cup 2-3 in midweek but can't have too many complaints after fluking the previous round. Won of my wing backs popped to formidable/brilliant and is currently selling for £1.8m so I have a £4m warchest to spend. Once my other wing back pops which should hopefully be this week I will blow that on two supernatural+ defenders with secondaries.

Good point. I'll alert the troops. Hopefully we can get a 2 day jump this time, my YA boys are coming along very nicely, one 16yo defender at 7.5*, three at 6.5* and a 15yo at 6* (with inadequate PM). Also have a 16yo 7* keeper who has maxed.

I can sense some decent money coming my way at the end of the season!

Playmaking: passable Passing: poor
Winger: inadequate Defending: supernatural
Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: weak

Check out the XP for the age! Cost me £3m but with full winger training he should prove a real asset.

I've got trainees with better secondaries than that though not the experience. I'm waiting for next pops before selling just to make sure my defence is watertight until promotion confirmed. Should then have enough in the kitty to boost midfield next season.

What's an average and above average divvy IV CM and wing skills?

I'm top of my IV and mine are:

IM's:
Extra Terrestrial (Formidable SP)
Extra Terrestrial (Inadequate Passing)
Titanic (Outstanding Passing)

Wing:
Magnificent (Magnificent PM, Passable Passing)
Magnificent (Excellent PM, Passable Passing)
Outstanding (Brilliant PM, Passable Passing)

I switch the last two wingers dependant on the needs of the game (and form). Most midfields I come up against are minimum solid and usually higher.

Excellent player, similar to Rosewell when I signed him, although I think Rosewell might have been a couple of weeks older. If he had a speciality I'd have thought he would have international potential.

At £3m, presumably you are training for your team rather than profit?

Great - thanks for feedback - I should be able to upgrade existing IMs and sell a couple of current trainees to somewhere half way between current WC/Super levels and Bs promo team. Wingers are comparitevely cheaper even with semi decent secondaries and I should be able to finance the whole lot in one go aiming for 5th or 6th and then building on that with around a 4 season haul to promotion again. I'm determined to do all this on a 5-4-1 defence/passing trained team and prove that midfield isn't everything. The slowly changing match engine seems to be removing 352 and 451 bias.

In another season and a half the trainees defenders I started buying will be first team ready. At present best is Magn PM Form Def

He's played a bunch of games for the U-20's, hence the XP. Probably need a level or two more of defending if he was going to get into the NT but he won't get that from me!

Yep, haven't really trained for profit for a while now, been picking up early 20's and training their wing as a secondary mainly. Trying to make a concerted effort to get a well balanced team and make a decent fist of Level III:

Last match was about as balanced as you get!!!

Midfield formidable (low)
Right Defence formidable (high)
Central Defence formidable (very high)
Left Defence excellent (very high)
Right Attack formidable (low)
Central Attack excellent (very high)
Left Attack excellent (very high)

Defence ratings were down as I had a 3.5* reserve in, Pérez will replace him. 6.5* at 21 is not to be sniffed at! He'll play CB in league games then Wing in friendlies to ensure maximum training.

Don't underestimate the importance of the winger's PM, particularly as I think both B and myself have been playing 5 in midfield compared to your 3. It will make it very difficult for you to be competitive in midfield, especially away from home. I'm still experimenting to try and find a defensive formation and the best tactics to use away from home. I got smacked 5-0 last weekend with a magnificent (vh), brilliant (vh), world class (l) defence up against a poor (vh), solid (vh), brilliant (l) attack.
