After the disappointment of BTCup yesterday no last day excitement for me in HT. A 1-0 win cementing a 100pc home record but the team in 1st won comfortably to finish 3pts above me. Only lost one game but 3 away draws was my downfall.

The team coming down are a former Prem team but they have a decimated squad and have finished rock bottom year on year. What's the betting they choose next season to use their cash mountain. Even without them there are 3 of us that are broadly similar though I just about edge the other two. Careful planning for a promo push next season is needed.

Almost that time again. I am favourite this season as the team coming down is effectively a bot. I do have two other teams breathing down my neck so I'll be taking nothing for granted. Only one dabble in the TM so far and hopefully that's all I need. First team defence this season is awesome (if expensive) and that should see me through. Drew too many away games last season and considering CA for some of these.

Always been unlucky in the cup. Would be nice to make R5 this season.

Relegated team not too hot, all about one 400k TSI player. Nothing to threatening from the promoted teams.

We've strengthened big time with 3 new English recruits and we now have 9 players at 50k+ TSI. We must be looking to promote, there's no especially weak area of the team now.

On course for a comfortable win in my first game in III, but not without cost.

I've already lost my goalkeeper and my wing-back trainee.

Similar though somewhat behind you. I'll be top tonight and that's where I intend to be all season. Even the fans have me as going for the title but there's at least one other team that will push me all the way, possibly two.

I think its easier to win if there are a couple of other teams pushing you, rather than just a head to head contest. It means your opponents are more likely to drop points.

The team I'm playing today have already accepted that they'll finish 8th. I'm battling for 6th if I'm lucky.

3-1 away win over a team with a formidable midfield, 281 hatstats for me after forgetting to PIC the cup match.

Not only do I have TS on walking on clouds but confidence is now completely exaggerated. Assuming I stay top is this still only likely to affect me if I am playing 7th or 8th place and does the use of normal or even MoTS in these games prevent over confidence creeping in ?

I have reasonably comfortable league and cup matches in the next 7 days but not comfortable enough to PiC followed by my first real league test of the season. If necessary I might throw 4th round cup. Much as I'd love to progress winning the title is a must this season and a cup exit seems the best way to reduce confidence.

I don't think you can influence confidence in any way other than results. I've never noticed it make too much difference though.

8-1 win at a cost in the cup, I always play a decent number of first teamers in the early rounds for XP but my 27yo 112k IM picked up a +3 which will take a fair while to heal. Not good! Fortunately I can move my magnificent PM winger to the centre of the park but it's going to be tough in a division full of strong midfields.

On the plus side, my future coach got his decisive pop:

Robbie Bucknall
TSI = 83 570 , 24 years and 70 days, inadequate form
Has solid experience and solid leadership abilities

Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: extra-terrestrial Passing: weak
Winger: weak Defending: poor
Scoring: poor Set pieces: formidable

I won't be converting him just yet as he's my captain and I don't want his leadership to start reducing, will wait a while for my superstar reserve to go:

Sanaul Jaffery
TSI = 120 , 32 years and 67 days, inadequate form
Has passable experience and passable leadership abilities [Quick]

Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous
Playmaking: disastrous Passing: wretched
Winger: poor Defending: weak
Scoring: passable Set pieces: poor

Promote him, then know I'm going to have a nice cheap coach to convert in a few seasons.

Well YB is spot on again, one of my two opponents for the title drew 5-5 yesterday in an incredible match going from 3-1 down to 5-3 up before conceding two late goals. Haven't yet checked their line up to see whether they underestimated opps. I play them away next week and a win would really stamp my authority on the division.

Yesterday I achieved a new record 246 hatstats on normal. Pleased with that in a 5-4-1 with two wingers. Also running two further club records, 14 unbeaten with 12 consecutive wins, though my cup exit either this week or next week will kill it. It's a shame they can't add a league unbeaten/win stat.

5-0 win over a strong team, 284 hatstats with one IM missing and a striker in poor form. All looking pretty good at the moment.

Also turned a nice profit on a trainee:

Date From To Price TSI then
29-06-2008 ShrimperZone FC FC Burberi 1997 2 720 667 £ 57 110
17-09-2007 Fc Rostovin Punakone ShrimperZone FC 848 000 £ 28 130

Will be upgrading the defence now, though will need to keep some aside for my now rather extortionate wage bill!

I've been promoted to the toughest III.

Great.

Blimey...

Are you the first from on here up to level III?

Anyhow, have had a big clear out, put myself in the black financially, have got rid of a lot of the old players (so average age of the first team is now c. 24-25) and am changing formation to 3-5-2 in order to try to train wingers.

May or may not stay up this season - I'm in something like the 7th or 8th hardest Level IV - but with new potential trainees, the side should be looking in good shape. Will be training passing for most of this season, and then will switch to wing attacks.

:)

Nope I got to Level III back in season 32 and then went back up in Season 34. However since then I have given up on Hattrick. last I knew was that the team was about to expire and was heading into Level V. Just could not commit the time to take the club further. Also I find Battrick a much better game.

I actually prefer hattrick. For me battrick is a bit too time consuming to stay on top of and so I end up just playing my default team/tactics most days.

Anyway, had a great win on Sunday. PLaying away at one of the teams I expected to be challenging for the title, I had to field a passable goalkeeper due to injury, and despite him having a side over 50 hatstats stronger, I managed to conjure up a 4-2 win.

I see you logged back in to find out you are still alive - what's the damage ? :D
