Breaking News Matt Harrold

And it never stopped you from becoming such a goal scoring predator.

Ha ha. Funnily enough, apart from it happening on my son's first Birthday party almost 14 years ago (massive row with Mrs Orm as we were having a big family party) and it was a week after I joined a new company, I was never as prolific again. In those days I played up front on Saturday and right back or sweeper on Sunday. I was no Crowny or Richie but I used to chip in with enough.

Ah, that makes it ok then.
Not defending the coin throwing at all, but if he was going to wind up the home crowd then he had to expect abuse back in bucket loads - blimey, he got it enough when he was here so he was bound to get it playing for someone else! Shame Coughlan wasn't playing actually as I think he'd have probably coped better with him than Barker or Mohsni.

Harold had a rough time at Roots Hall, he was judged against Eastwood, Goater, Gray etc and was crucified for it. He seems to be at his level now, looked a handful and did what any Centre forward should do: rough up the defence, be a real pain in the a*se throughout the game, have a 'hand' in one and score a bloody good goal. All you Harold knockers, grow up. Blame Tilson for signing him when he was not up to it. Blame the officials for incompetence. Blame our players for not shutting him down. Blame our forwards for not 'doing a Harold'. Get off the guy's back.

I do blame Tilson quite a lot for it actually, his persistence in keep playing him rather than Hooper was a major stumbling block. None of what you're saying excused his behaviour yesterday though, he didn't need to turn to W Block when he scored to incite them (bookable in itself) and he certainly didn't need to hang about there at the end removing his shin pads. That's all apart from his behaviour during the match......keep coming back to Mohsni once he'd assaulted him was totally unnecessary and entirely served to provoke things further.

What Harrold did yesterday was no worse than what Mohsni does most weeks. He's hugely physical and is prone to making reckless challenges, whilst he's also fond of a little chat.

Im sorry but harolds performance was scandelous yesterday. Is that the way to play to constantly foul handle the ball and injure others?

Yeah id love to have a player like that in our side . It makes me laugh that people are saying that they would rather had harold than corr. How many goals has matt harold scored this season and how many corr. Just because matt harold scores a good finish it makes him desirable. He was **** when we had him and he is **** now.

On another day there would be no assist as it would have been called for handball and there would be no goal as he would have been sent off for numerous hand balls and fouls including studs against mohsni and an elbow on barker.

The fact that some on here are praising harolds performance is a joke.

Can we hear from any of those who ref on the subject of Harrold's peformance? Mick, Kerry, Sam........?

I saw a player who won them the game - on the day. Was that a 'regular' Harold or was it a pumped up, better than average Harold? Did he really....."constantly foul handle the ball and injure others?" I'm not arguing the fact that he appeared to handle the ball or that he appeared to be late on Mohsni - that's football and he got away with it. On the day he outshone Corr in other aspects of the game.
With Mohsni's rawness, he will live or die by the sword, as he dishes it out verbally and physically - on this occasion he's come off worse. Will he come through it a better player - I hope so, he's the breath of fresh air that makes a difference.

I'll cover this later, but Matt has no angst against Southend despite what happened in his time here, and some of what was directed at him today was a disgrace. Some abuse after the whistle when he was walking off the pitch overstepped the mark of what was acceptable and, when he went over, those responsible soon buggered off. Cowards.

A select few, allegedly, also deemed it necessary to throw coins at the lad. I say allegedly because I didn't see it myself, but I have it on good authority that it happened, and those responsible ought to be banned from Roots Hall. Disgusting.

I thought he got an easier ride yesterday from the fans then when he was pulling on a Southend shirt.

Met Matt Harold a few times, really nice bloke. Thought he was superb yesterday, not his fault the ref didn't see the handball plus his goal was very good.

When are our fans gonna except that sometimes you just don't play well enough or the opposition are the better side. There doesn't have to be a scapegoat everytime! How many times do people have a go at referees when we win? Hardly ever.
Some of the drivel that our fans come out with just because we lose a game is quite frankly embarrassing.

My final point is that I thought Moshni was very lucky not to get sent off yesterday, he lunged into a tackle first half which could have been straight red and was lucky not to get booked for the Harold incident second half.

I know we all love Southend but think a few of our fans need to try and view our games with a slightly less biased perspective sometimes.

So because you've met Harrold a few times that's enough reason to condemn Mohsni? If you think Mohsni should have been sent off for the "incident" then I can only assume you're actually a member of Matt Harrold's family! Mohsni did nothing wrong to him that centre halves don't do week in, week out. They shouldn't have to suffer the assault that happened in front of the West stand and way off the ball and which probably resulted in the subsequent enforced substitution. Harrold was wrestling both Mohsni and Barker, as he used to when he was here and got pulled up for time and time. Yesterday he got away with it for pretty much most of the time, but what he did to Mohsni was bang out of order, and the blatant hand ball for the 1st goal as seen plainly on the BBC iplayer highlights was disgraceful in that none of the officials saw it.

Just read his statement to the Echo and Im sorry but there are a few too many I didnt mean in there I didnt mean to slide into Mohsni I didnt mean to celebrate in front of the west stand. The guy is either extremely accident prone or a complete idiot. Bet he didnt mean to hand ball it either or elbow Barker in the face.

Proves my point exactly, totally biased.

Oh so very wrong. I just hate cheating, and incompetence from officials on any level, made worse by the fact that his behaviour towards the west stand was calculated and definitely meant. I also abhor the fact that he is thought so proudly of at SEEVIC where plenty of Southend supporters attend and yet could behave as he did. What a very good example to set.

Think you need to add a little 'IMO' every now and then OBL. Matt Harrold's performance yesterday was the type of play we had been pleading for him to give us when he was with us. The fact that he did it against us is no reasion to get carried away with words such as "disgrace", "cheating" etc. If he wasnt an ex Blues player, his performance would have gone largely unnoticed. I was one of his biggest critics when he was with us - just accept that the lad had a good day, got the rub of the green and we were caught short. That football!

He's a footballer, not a member of the UN peace envoy

Ever so slightly hypocritical a stance to take, considering you seem to be condoning Mohsni's antics.

Mohsni and Harrold were at eachother's throats all game. I understand during the away fixture, Mohsni got a little wound up then too? They knew exactly how to get at him and how to unsettle him, and it worked.
