Mark Molesley

Molesley is a professional and I'm sure he would accept that his term with us didn't go the way he planned and hoped. That's the way it is in professional football and he took the hit and moved on. He now manages a team in the same division as us, and if they win he might get a little feeling of satisfaction inside, but apart from that I doubt he lose any sleep if they lose. Interestingly Chris Powell went down the slippery slope as he couldn't cope, but he is still loved by the Shrimpers faithful.

At the end of the day football professionals do their job without too much loyalty to anything apart from their contract as tenure can often be too short for loyalty to build. I'd neither clap him nor boo as I doubt he will come anywhere near our supporters. Far better to give our full attention to our current head coach and the team. Big support from the beginning does wonders for the team and shows we care. Obviously, if we do give them a tanking then it would be a poor show not to ask what the score was, but in a friendly way.
I thought he was pretty sound and complimentary about us in his pre-match interview,

Odd really how Mark Moseley managed to get himself a half decent gig at a full time football club quite quickly while Sol hasn’t worked in football since other than a short stint with Sky where he made himself look a complete tit with his lack of knowledge that Phil Foden was left footed when suggesting the defender should’ve shown him ‘inside’ onto his weaker left foot…….

at the age of 40 dearest Mark is a manger of a non league club - great work Mark ..

and you have many admirers including supporters at SUFC .

that is far more than I have achieved

By all accounts Sol Campbell is an unusual personality - which is often something quite common with high achieving sportsmen. Neuro non-typical is one phrase i have heard.

Here is a list of his successes ..

Honours[edit]

Player[edit]

Tottenham Hotspur
Arsenal
Portsmouth
England U19
England
UEFA European Championship bronze medals:1996[160]

Individual

Personally I think MM might make it back into the EFL one day - maybe even make a League One club.

I see his weird as +uck interview is doing well in viral laughing stock sort of way and its irrelevant but I think he needs haircut.

Good to see our current manager acknowledging his existence in a sporting way.

Wow, 2022 isn't even 1 month old and already we have an odds-on favourite for "****post of the year" - well done Sir.

He did, no argument there but he was allowed to bring in a lot of staff and a hell of a lot of players, most of whom were very poor, so it wasn't 100% down to Ron, more like 90%.
The players he could get would be nowhere near the top of his list due to our situation at the time. He never got a chance to see if he deserved to be liked or hated although many seem to have made up their minds.

sure - you were not obliged to reply ...

or to use a fans forum to heap abuse on someone you don't know who has represented his country at the highest level ..

meanwhile ... MM is getting these headlines ..

RB, those achievements were as a player. He was a great player, sure. Many great players have turned out to be **** managers. We've had a few here. Contrast that to Tilson, who you also loved from memory .. can't remember him winning any PL titles. Struggling to see your point, chap. Let the hate for MM go, he's not ours any more, he belongs to Aldershot.

So to get back to the original question, could anyone who attended shed any light on whether he did get a good reception?

I personally liked his philosophy and whilst he didn't get the results and I'm much happier with the management team we had now, under better circumstances with the scouting network we now have I think he would have done okay.

Certainly hope he did get a good reception as his lack of results certainly weren't for the want of trying.

If Sol was that good as a manager, why hasn’t the greatest mind in football got another management role? You only need to listen to the stories that came out during his time with us to know the answer to that. Sol is the reason he hasn’t had another management role and it’s embarrassing to see him crying to the papers every 6 months that he still hasn’t got a job.

Back on topic, I hope he proves me wrong but I can’t see MM progressing like the Cowleys. I still think he’ll have a good career as a manager around L1/L2/NL and I hope he does as he seems a really good bloke. I’d never give him a bad reception as he simply doesn’t deserve it. Was appointed captain of a sinking ship letting in water left, right and centre and wasn’t really given any tools to repair it. It was only ever really going one way.

Dont dislike Moseley but my god how boring is his football. Can be effective against some teams but seems like this is just his style and had we scored first it would have been exactly as it was for him at Southend and they would never had come from behind to win. Us on the other hand have finally got the belief that even if we go a goal down it isnt over and it was so refreshing last night and in previous games that we didnt stop trying to go for it.
