Maher going nowhere says unhappy Ron

Can still not find anything official but if Kev goes as now seems likely I for one wish him all the best and will happy to pay to attend his well deserved testimonial.

Have heard stories of training bust ups and "sulky" attitude since dropping out the side, but they are rumours and probably not true.

So King Kev is gone? Not sure the Moose is ready and with Macca suspended (SHOCKING EH?, who could have seen that coming!!!!) I think it's a chance for Anthony Grant to step in and secure himself a contract with the Blues.

Good luck skip I think we'll miss you.

I'm gutted TBH. I thought he would get a few more games this year, its a shame that a player of his quality & experience wont be around for the run in.

The best pass-er in a Southend shirt for the past 15 years. I hope they hate him at Gillingham and he comes back :p

you never seem to amaze me with your comments i would rather have hooper out on loan playing everyweek gaining valuable match experience than just sitting on the sub bench at SUFC or plating the odd reserve match

like in his days at grays before he came to us he was warming the subs bench

Have you ever thought it may not be Tilson it may be Maher himself that wants to move away from the Hall as he has dropped down the pecking order

Hooper has proven that he is better than Macdonald and Harrold and should have been given time to prove how good he was playing alongside Barnard, not the other two stiffs. As for Maher we all know that he was a bit of a crab but a classy one, Macca is fast becoming a poor imitation of Bailey and the worse passer in the club. You really are the biggest Tilson can do no wrong, rose tinted groveller on here!

Hard to believe King Kev may have left the club. 10 years is a hell of a long time to be at one club and we may never see a player stay for that long at Southend again.

My favourite memory of King Kev other than lifting the trophies we won was at Preston last season played out of his skin and scored 2 great goals from outside the area including the injury time winner that sent 700 southend fans wild.
Hope he still gets his testamonial against a decent side and we see him put a Blues shirt on again.

I genuinely think the team has moved on from the Maher era.

Sentimentality aside, I actually think this is the key issue in the whole debate. I am not convinced the team has moved on enough to leave Maher in the wilderness and recent games have only reinforced this opinion for me. I was very much hoping (not expecting) that Kev would step in for Macca and once again show his class what we've been missing recently.

I have personally seen enough of McCormack's headless chicken act for a while, and to enter this critical stage of the season without Maher's experience and only the still unproven Moussa and Grant as back up does concern me.

I also don't buy for one minute that this is purely for football reasons or Tilly showing he is a ruthless manager. No chance. Arguably Flahavan and Barrett have been as below-par as Maher was earlier in the season (and for much longer) but they still are there every week... Whatever is going on behind the scenes, I wonder if it is what has affected Gower's form in recent weeks?

This thread is threadbare and i wont be adding to it,crap i just did, what a tool/plum/muppet i am,where is the offical thread closer Aberween shrimperzone when you need him.

I don't really care whether or not it needs another thread, I just wanna know what is going on with him and if it has been comfirmed on the SUFC Official Site.

Exactly what I have been thinking. I am very against this going ahead. I have been worried for a while that Macca and Bailey cant play together (Lampard and Gerrard anyone?) I miss Maher in the team, and we will have a far lesser squad without him

Badala da dadarr

Faster than a speeding bullet..........

It is not on the OS so until it does appear on there as far as i am concerned it is another rumor.

Out of interest......why are there 2 threads for a subject that might not even be true

Well Matt the Shrimp seems to think it is a definite - says as much in the McCormack thread.

Personally if Maher has actually gone I think it's a disgrace that there has been nothing on the OS. Whatever may or may not have happened 10 years has to count for something.

One of the best SUFC players I've ever had the priviledge to watch in 34 years as the Hall. Past it at 31 - yea right !

Another Bummer - I've just realised that will make Barrett official club captain and with another 4 seasons of the buffoon to come - but he's committed and blue blood runs through his veins, so the fact that he's sh!t can be overlooked. :p

at the end of the day maher has to leave some time and i think the time is right now, we are allegedly in the middle of a promotion push and bringing him back now would cause all sorts of problems i think. would you take this - let him go out on loan till end of season we get promoted through play-offs maher comes back for testimonial in front of ten thousand fans gets all his money everbodies happy.

gutted about this. Watching mccormack the last few weeks has been painful and he will always be serving suspensions. Seen alot of Moussa in the reserves and he is not fit to lick Mahers boots yet alone fill them. What ever went on at the training ground still feel it is a poor goodbye to one of the only loyal players in the game today. Good luck Kevin wish you all the best and will always remember you lifting the league
two play off trophy at cardiff having forfeited your brothers wedding . Will miss your never say die attitude and the fact you always seemed to care about the result which is more then can be said for some over the years. Really hope its au revoir but fear it is the final good bye

I totally agree with all you say. Today is a Black day in the history of Southend United. I am totally gutted .

Totally 100% agree with this.....Come on Ron, Please show some respect for 10 years service.

Put something on the OS tomorrow please??

.

I wish Kevin Maher nothing but the best with Gillingham, and look forward to seeing him return for a well-deserved Testimonial at a packed-to-the-rafters Fossets Farm.

If he has gone and he still wants a Testimonial match it would probably have to be sooner rather than later and held at Roots Hall.

Can you imagine a Kevin Maher Testimonial match at Fossets Farm in 2 years time being a crowd puller?
